Whew. We are flying out of Grand Rapids Airport at 6am on a Sunday and need to drop off our Budget rental car Saturday night and travel to a hotel that is also convenient to the airport or has a shuttle to the airport and car rental. Several I've just looked at have recent really bad reviews. Could you please suggest a hotel for us? Thank you

Sure I have stayed at several. The Staybridge Suites, the Homewood Suites are both good, stayed many times. There are also 3 Marriotts there, and have stayed at the old Crowne Plaza but it is under a new name now. In general this is a disappointing part of the city so don't rush here, although M-W or Thurs these 2 hotels have a free dinner. GRR/Gerald Ford is one of those Goldilocks airports, not too big, not too small. Rental cars are a 50 yard walk. There aren't many airports where I would risk an early pre-opening rental car drop off but this one would likely be OK.

The Cantina Mexican Grill is nothing special but better than the typical local fare.

Thanks for your help. I was thinking of dropping off the care the night before although the price would be the same. I don't want to chance a delay in the morning.
