Grand Canyon Tour from Flagstaff

Does anyone have any experience with tour companies for day tour from Flagstaff to Grand Canyon and back? Unfortunately our G.C. time is limited to a single day, without a car. Looks like there are many companies who pick up at a Flagstaff hotel, provide day tour at G.C., and return to your hotel. Any recommendations? Thanks!

Fairhope: Thanks for the information. There must be dozens of tour companies, as this is one that I haven't come across as yet. Hope you have a great trip in October. We'll be traveling through in late August.

I recently returned from our car trip through the southwest (I'll post more about it under another heading in future) and wanted to report on the tour of the Grand Canyon. We opted for the G.C. Sunset Tour with Great Ventures Tours. It was a wonderful experience and made for a memorable day which included "hiking", plenty of picture-taking, dinner at the Arizona Room, and drinks on the veranda at the El Tovar. I can highly recommend this tour company; the bus/coach was extremely comfortable and the driver/guide was excellent.

I too noted this particulr tour.
May I ask why you chose a tour rather than driving yourself?

Fairhope: I chose a tour in order to have a relaxing day off from driving, as the real business of our car trip was to help my daughter drive from Chicago to L.A., where she is now living and going to school. The last thing we wanted to do was to spend more time driving than we had to. I think the car also appreciated the day off.
