Grand Canyon Helicopter Tours

My husband and I are planning a trip to the Grand Canyon in a few weeks and would like to take a helicopter tour of the canyon. We are looking for a basic tour ranging in lenght from 1/2 hour to one hour. There appear to be several different companies from which to choose. Can anyone reccommend a company or any that should be avoided?

We went with Papillon and did the 45 mins tour. I think it was called the Imperial tour. It was well worth the extra dollars and that first sighting will take your breath away!! It was a memory I will treasure forever. Have a great time!!

There was another helicopter crash at the Grand Canyon yesterday that killed seven people, according to Flagstaff's AZ Daily Sun. I really wish people would re-think this as a good way to see the Canyon.

The company that operated the helicopter involved in the crash was Sundance Helicopters, not Papillon.

You're right. The most recent crash involved a Sundance helicopter. A Papillon helicopter hasn't crashed since 2001.
I think these are really dangerous trips, no matter the company.

Book Death in the Grand Canyon lists all recorded deaths in Grand Canyon from various causes - falling over rim, thunderstorms, aircraft, murder, etc. Interesting reading and another way to do your research.
