Graduation week reservations

I know it seems ridiculously early, but anybody who has seniors who are graduating in May/June in a smallish college town, NOW is the time to make hotel reservations! I was astonished today when I found out that Eugene, OR is almost completely booked for June graduation; I managed to snag a room (the front desk person was astonished that there was still a room available!)

Good idea. I live in Austin, TX which is NOT a smallish college town, but we do have the largest university in the US and it's darn near impossible to get a hotel room when the University of TX graduation is going on. Good thing you thought ahead.

I had that problem at the end of my DS's freshman year. We arrived on Friday, packed up on Saturday - graduation day. In tiny Houghton, MI there are not many motel rooms available. I know of people who had to stay almost 100 miles away.

Thanks for the reminder - I have now entered it on my calendar for May 2007 to make May 2008 reservations. (As soon as I figure out how to be in Savannah for a Saturday afternoon son's college graduation and Monday in Boston for Dtrs HS graduation on same weekend I will be all set)
