Looking for your recommendations on good restaurants on the islands.

While not on the islands, The G.A. Pig is at the exit from I-95 & should not be missed for atmosphere & awesome BBQ.

Go to the Jekyll Island Club for a drink & take in the ambience. There are many others, I just can't remember the names. Have fun.

I haven't been to St Simons in quite a few years but I used to go frequenly-so my info may be dated. On St Simons Blanches Courtyard is a rather charming place to eat, on the water there was a place called Emmaline and Hessie's(or something like that) which was pretty good and the Crabtrap near the beach used to be very popular. If you want to go somewhere fancy The Cloister on Sea Island used to allow non-hotel guests to dine there-it's quite formal, but a beautiful place.

Goodness, can't believe I'm actually responding.I live on St. Simons and here are the places the locals frequent: Frederica House, Brogans North, Crab Daddys (was there tonight), Chelsea's, CJ's in the village (for Italian),as you can see the choices are numerous. i have never been to the GA PIG! Rarely go to Jekyll Island Club but the ambience is good there -- similar to King and Prince on St. Simons (a bit upscale). Another is Delaney's up Frederica Road. I could go on and on. Depends on what you're in the mood for.

DO NOT bother with the GA Pig. My wife and I had heard about it and we stopped in last year. They were rude and the food was just okay. Not worth the stop. They probably were good at one time.

Blackbeard's is very wonderful for either lunch or dinner. They have terrific food and have beautiful ocean views.

Actually, Emmaline and Hessie's hasn't been in business for a few years. The King and Prince has a great Friday Night Seafood Buffet (seasonal) and Crab Trap is good too. For Jekyll, you don't really have alot of choices you really shouldn't miss Blackbeard's. They have great seafood and an even better view of the beach.

Jan, I can't believe that you live on St Simons and you didn't tell Mike about Barbara Jeans, on the corner, 214 Mallory St. I hope the place is still there. I was there about 2 years ago. This is a local spot for lunch, very casual. Cajun and Southern food. Barbara makes a Chocolate cobbler, yes chocolate, that will make you think you went to heaven.

DO NOT MISS BARBARA JEAN'S RESTAURANT ON ST. SIMONS!!! (yes, it is still there) My husband and I had one of the best meals there last week we have had in 30+ years of travel! Don't miss the "She-Crab" soup and the Chocolate Cobbler. Fantastic Tuna Steak and Crab cakes and wait til you see what they give you for bread! AVOID Zackery's on Jekyll, seafood so overcooked and takes forever to get your food!

Barbara Jeans is SO GOOD we periodically make a 3 hour trip there just to eat. Not to be missed: Crab Cakes - the best outside of Maryland.

Barbara Jean's is not to be missed. Especially the Chocolate Stuff - aka Chocolate Cobbler.
