Thanks mclaurie. I had done a local google search and found some of the salons near there, but WOW, they're all high! I guess I'll be blowing myself.

Sunnybrook, I thought the Cutler Salon sounded like a good option for you. The price listed was $45-70. It's very close. There are cheaper walk in places, especially around Bloomingdales which is only a few blocks from 59th st. It's just you never know how good it will be. I suppose if it's awful you could redo it yourself.

For blowouts, there are several chain places, each with many locations. Unfortunately I cannot remember the name of these...I have used two on Lexington Avenue in the 50s and I thought they were fine. Something like shampoo and blowout for $25 or so. I will try to get the names and locations of a couple in the next few days.
