Good Omaha Restaurants?

We are going to be in Omaha Sunday and Monday of Labor Day weekend. We plan to take in the Zoo. Does anyone have ideas for good restaurants? We like pretty much any kind of cuisine. We will be a family group of five adults.

The French Cafe in the Old Market is consistently rated as one of Omaha's best--you can't go wrong there. The food is fabulous and the staff is so welcoming that you'll hate to leave. If you're coming from out of state, try Omaha Prime in the Old Market for great Nebraska steaks and cozy atmosphere. Have a great trip.

The Old Market suggestions posted earlier (Prime, French Cafe) are very good, but pricey. As an alternative, my suggestions would be one of the remaining family-owned & operated Omaha steakhouses. Cascio's is near the zoo and the Old Market. Other good choices are Gorat's and Anthony's.

I guess it depends on what you consider pricey. Considering the atmosphere at French Cafe vs. Gorats, I'd pay a few dollars more per entree and go with French Cafe. Gorats and Cascio's are Omaha classics with good food but not a lot of atmosphere. Sorry, Omaha posters--just my opinion.

French Cafe is a great rest. stay away from OmahaPrime, it is too expensive and there are better steaks for less money. M's pub and Jams both have very good food and if you like something classy AND spicy try Stoke's.
For some of the best barbecue try the Amarillo in Bellevue (very close)
Enjoy the stay. If you haven't been here before you'll be pleasantly surprised.

I ate at the Amarillo in Bellevue a couple of weeks ago, and can wholeheartedly concur that it has wonderful, no superlative, BBQ. Also has the added incentive of being very inexpensive!

If you are going to the zoo,yes you should go to the Old Market for one of your meals. There are plenty of restaraunts to choose from with great food. Here's some old market suggestions.
Mexican-Trini's/Pizza-Zio's.
Of course the others suggested are great too. If you feel like going to some home owned places with delicious food, I would say Greek Islands, Lo Sole Mio. Oh just thought of one you can't miss if you can get in, Kobe steak house. This is great Japanese food, and fun since they make it in front of you. Also for steaks Charlestons is a great new restaraunt. Hope this was helpful!
