Golf at Disneyworld
Aloha,
I want to play golf at one of the disneyworld golf courses but which one? I just started playing golf so my handicap is pretty high (shooting low 100's). All the courses sound wonderful but is one course better than another. Is it worth lugging all my clubs from Hawaii? Thanks for any help.

Most courses rent clubs. When you determine which course you want to play call ahead and see what they have in their rental inventory.
The Hyatt Grand Cypress is not a Disney course per se but it's in Lake Buena Vista. on the edge of the Disney property. I don't golf but the my DH and boys do and they love their courses.
Rates for play in that area are expensive and you'll find nice courses in Kissimmee and other suburbs, but my guys seem to think the Hyatt is worth it a couple of times a year (kid's rates at most clubs are a fraction of the adult's).

I believe the Magnolia course is favored by local golfers. They are all lovely courses that are well maintained. Lots of professional golfers make their home in Orlando and ocassionally play the WDW courses.
I played it once or twice and appreciated its very wide fairways which are good for crummy golfers such as myself. LMF

FYI- Magnolia is the so-called signature course at WDW. It has a Mickey Mouse (head w/ ears) shaped sand trap which I have unfortunately visited. I've only played two (I shoot around 100) and they were both golfer friendly if you know what I mean.

My husband and son golf every trip to Disney and have golfed at all their courses. They like Osprey Ridge the best, but also think it is the hardest. They also like Eagle Pines. The Magnolia is the one with the mouse ears sand trap. There is a golf site for Disneyworld on the web which tells you more than you will need to know, including best times to play, cost, etc. I don't have it at my fingertips, but if you do a google search I am sure you will find it. They take their clubs, but disney also rents them. Depends on how much you play while there and what you prefer. They are renting in Hawaii this summer instead of taking them! Have fun.
