Don't know what you mean by "easier" , but neither is hard. If you already have a car, then use it cause you can explore the nooks & crannies better. However, cars are not allowed into the eastern section of the park (east of 19th ave crossover) on Sundays.
See if you can locate my SF Driving Tour I've posted here, and use the car to explore the City some more.

I've done both and both are easy. On sunny Sundays finding parking can be a bit of a challenge, but not too bad. Just have to drive around a bit and look.
If you want to have a picnic in the park, check out Andronicos grocery on Irving St, just south of the park. They have a terrific deli.

That is true. I suppose though, if Don has gotten this far, it wouldn't be too much of a stretch to locate the store web site and find the map himself - which is exactly what I would do if I were going since I can't remember from visit to visit where exactly the Andronicos is
