Go see The Women. You'll have to stand in line for cancellation tickets at the theatre box office. Fri night, they release them at 6pm, show starts at 7pm. If you're in the first 15 or so in line, you should get in. It's a wonderful show.
I heard the Rockette show is great.

You're going to New York on one of the busiest weekends of the year. So, if you haven't bought tickets yet, you may not have that many choices!
As for the Music Hall show with the Rockettes, I would recommend calling now for weekend tickets--212-307-1000--and NOT wait until you get here.

Ginny -- What are your interests? If you don't care what show you see, you should try the TKTS discount ticket booth at 48th (I think -- someone will correct me) and Broadway. You can't miss the long line of people. Don't be deterred -- it moves fast. Line up at 10am for matinee and later for evening shows. Cash and travelers checks only. You'll be here on a busy weekend, so pickin's might be slim.
As for museums, they are numerous here. Check out any guidebook for the kind of art you might be interested in. The Guggenheim is running a show on Norman Rockwell. One of my favorite seasonal things to do is to see the Metropolitan Museum's Christmas tree -- it has beautiful angels and a huge Neapolitan cresch from the late 1700's.

A couple of corrections (as Lisa anticipated):
The TKTS booths are at Broadway and 47th Street in Times Square.
You are advised to get in around 9-9:15 for matinee tickets. If you wait until it opens at 10, the lines will be very, very long! (The time will pass quickly, as you'll find yourself conversing with the others waiting in line!)
The tree at the Metropolitan (along with a lot more in the museum) is definitely worth a visit. You are urged to go when it opens at 9:30 and shortly thereafter. It gets very, very crowded this time of the year.

I must disagree with Howard. If you get in line at 10:00 the line will be long, but you will probably be through it in an hour to an hour and a half at most. If you arrive in line at 9:00 you will probably be there just as long, maybe longer. You are guaranteed to be in line at least an hour even if you are the first in line (which is very doubtful) as it won't open for an hour. Although the line will be much longer at 10:00, it will start moving immediately. I have been in the line at 10:00 and it seemed to stretch for miles, but I was through it in half an hour to 45 minutes. Lots of people get there at 8:00 or even earlier knowing they'll be in line at least 2 hours before it even opens. That makes no sense to me.

If you're very flexible about what you see and hate waiting in lines for a few minutes (I'm describing myself!) you might consider going to TKTS late - at about 5 or 6 PM. Sometimes additional tix are released late and lines are generally very short at this time of day (5 - 10 minutes or less). I have done this many times with great success on weekdays but would assume that pickings will be slim on a busy weekend so use this approach at your own risk. By the way... I've always gotten fairly good seats buying at this time (but not always the shows that were my top choices).

While Owen's advice on this point is quite valid, keep in mind that the choice this weekend will be limited to start with, since this is one of the busiest times of the year for Broadway theater. Thus, the availability will not be as great as at other times.

Just arrived home from NYC last night. I saw the Rockettes on Monday evening and it was WONDERFUL. I went by the booth at 2:30 and people were just beginning to line up. The Radio City Music special was not up on the board either was the Phantom (my daughter wanted those tickets). The musicals that were up there were Contact, Chicago, Caberet and Les Mis. I walked over to the Majestic, got tickets for my daughter (told the man I had left my Playbill source code at the hotel, which I did, and he gave them front mez box tickets ($85) for $55 each. Around 4:30 I decided that I might as well see a show so I went back to the ticket booth and the Rockettes were on the board for 50% off both the 5PM and 8PM. I waited no more than 15 minutes. I bought an orchestra seat for myself for $38. The show was a delight and I'm glad I didn't miss it.
