Going for a run in Bufffalo, NY
I am a runner and will be in Buffalo, NY for a few days in August. I am looking for some great parks or other areas in which to run, preferably close to downtown. Suggestions?
Also, since I am posting anyway, restaurant recommendations, also close to or in downtown?

When I travel i look up local routes on mapmyrun.com. I can usually find a route that several have people have logged, which is good enough for a one time run of a couple of miles.
College campus are usually a good bet, as are bike paths along waterfronts or old railroads. Bike paths can be seen on google maps.

Delaware Park, designed by Olmstead is the most popular running spot due to its Loop design that takes you back to your original start...
Forest Lawn Cemetery is part of the park and is an amazing run for its landscaping, winding roads and historical beauty...
The Buffalo waterfront through the Marina, Naval Museum and Canalside runs along Lake Erie and although some of the area is under new development, you can see the old grain silos and get a whiff of the nearby General Mills Cereal Plant cookin up some Cheerios...

Gary gives good advice on where to run. Depending on your distance you can leave the "ring road" at Delaware park and run around the lake portion of the park. Regarding restaurants there are many excellent ones. What are you looking for?
