Hello from Oregon again Mimparis, realize much of this thread is awhile ago, but want to appologize for the few not so nice people! Guess they exist everywhere which makes the nice ones all the better by comparison. So glad you had a wonderful time. Please come back in August or September one year and experience the great Northwest (Oregon, Idaho & Washington states)
You'd want 2 weeks for this trip as is such great hiking, natural beauty, blue skies, the coast & mountains and even some high dessert! Greatdiversity of experiences. LO

Another "Welcome To America", from San Diego, California. I was fortunate to have been able to spend a long weekend in Paris in the late 1960's; while serving my country in Germany. Hopefully, France and the U.S. will enjoy better relations with Sarkozy's election to the Presidency.

I'm sure I'm not alone in admitting that when I saw the title of this thread, I first thought: "Oh, no, not some embarrassing rah-rah U.S. jingoism." It was a delightful surprise to see how wrong I was, and I enjoyed all of the posts that have shown how much we all have in common, and how the big majority of people are pretty darn decent when you take away all the crap that John Lennon sang so poignantly about. ... (I've been to France twice and loved it. For that matter, I've loved every place I've visited, because I went to enjoy it all, not to judge it or compare it.)

Hi mlmparis!

Sorry I didn't see this thread back then. What a wonderful thread and thanks for starting it. You can see it's wonderful because it is still alive! Don't worry what people think of your english - at least you try and that is more than enough! I don't suggest you come visit Houston (unless you have to - hehe). It's not as nice as Utah (i just came back from there) but if you do, WELCOME! Welcome anyway!

Hope this thread continues. It sends good vibes to everyone (well except for one perhaps) that reads it!

Maria
