Oh yes, the outfield is already signed. Now all we have to do is sign Paulie. I believe Carl Everett will be get his free agency and one other player, I think it's Timo Perez, but all the rest will be back.
Paulie said that they need to do it one more time.

I lost a section that related how I stood in one spot pressed from all sides for over 1-1/2hours before they got to us, and during that time the sidewalks (they are 25 to 30 feet wide on LaSalle) were packed with people and into the doorways and first floors of the buildings. We had a speaker near us and ticker cannon and so sang Na-Na-Na, Go-Go-Go White Sox, Take Me Out to the Ballgame, Journey Song etc. many times by the time the team got to us. My three oldest grandchildren ate all the candy I had on me- mostly Reeses, and my son's friend recounted how he (my son) got all the stains on the 13 year old leather Sox jacket I bought in Vegas (you wouldn't believe that story- it was a $450 leather coat at one time)- while we waited. I finally found out the little tiny orange dots were from a paint ball incident.
If any of you ever have the chance to be in a ticker tape, DO IT. It is hard to describe how cool it is. There were also 6 helicopters (at one time) that flew down the canyon of LaSalle during that 1/2 hour just before they got to us.
Lots of people in the crowd around us were yelling out their exact locations as time passed between songs. The people in Pilsen and Bronzeville areas in the industrial corridor had single depth- I saw in the news and video I viewed later. They went faster but stopped a few times there as well.
It must have been really overwhelming when they turned the cornor onto LaSalle because all the buildings are over 55 stories and I doubt that they (players) ever saw the combination of that kind of scale- ticker, sounds, and all those people like that before.
In Grant Park the audience can see better and hear MUCH better, but that effect would have been lost.
I've been to a lot of cities and the kind of canyon like LaSalle or Wacker- with that visible length and width- well especially with the side width of sidewalk- this is juat nowhere else I can think of offhand, except maybe one spot in Berlin.
And on the way back we also saw yellow sweeper/scoopers and orange/blue garbage trucks lined up 13 to 15 deep in several places- parked bumper to bumper.
And one of the biggest points of the parade was when one of the trucks/flats we have posed upon didn't make it under the Lake Street el, not 50 feet from us.
It was a "happening" as the whole structure that held the sign (metal too) scrunched and collapsed as the vehicle tried to pass under. Some police and workers had to do a 5 minute up and back before they could clear the thing to ultimate great applause.

Excellent JJ!! We WERE on the west corner of LaSalle and Jackson, and the look on the players and coaches faces as they rounded the corner was PRICELESS!! ><
I'll let you know when I have my pics posted. Email me your address [email protected] if you want a look.

JJ and Makai, I'm so jealous! I so wanted to be there but having just returned from being off for 10 days I could't pull it off! I watched online and got goose bumps so I can't imagine how cool it was in person!

swalter518- there were grown men, some quite close to my age, some in their 30's that I saw crying- REAL TEARS.
I don't see men crying often where I live. Not even at funerals- actually.
On the train going there and back, well, I've haven't seen parents with their babies and kids in costume, just pure joy with each other laughing and singing, and that kind of comaradery between large groups in many years.

JJ5 - I was on the SE corner of LaSalle and Lake and I saw that truck get stuck under the el too - poor planning on their part! Funny nevertheless!
But I agree that if anyone has the opportunity to attend a ticker tape parade - do it!!! I'm not even a Sox fan, fan of the other team which I won't name out of respect for the Sox fans but I was screaming my head off ("A.J.," "Jermaine") and I couldn't believe the amount of ticker tape!! If you opened your mouth, you would catch it like snowflakes on your tongue.
The hard part was getting back to my building at Wacker and Clark through the thongs of people but it was worth it.

I agree. I think that a rally at Grant Park would have been lame. It's baseball- so if you're going to celebrate right - show off your buildings and do a ticker tape parade. And LaSalle street is soooo Chicago. Love it.

aschie30, we were not that far apart. Wasn't it amazing! I'm still thinking about it. There was a connection, like all the 1000s and 1000s of people were neutrons firing off at once in one large brain.
Most of my friends and my Dad are Cubs fans, and I NEVER hold it against anyone. And I'm so glad you went- the ticker tape, the parade, the authority present, the business structure, the planes, the music and sound- just so SPECIAL here and so Chicago.
See you on the 10th- I'm making the reservations soon. We are going to have FUN.
And maybe next year it will be the Cubs, against the SOX, of course.

WOW! You did a great job with the pics, makai1- you are my hero for this url. GREAT!
And I saw it from a different angle and down by the end- but didn't have any camera on me, but it will be in my memory forever.
If I get any digitals from the groups I was with and our posings on the floats, I'll put them on or bring to the GTG.
We ate at Monk's on Lake. It had superb fish and chips and a good Italian beef on garlic bread. Beverages were had by all.
There is an article in today's Southtown about the 35th St. Metra platform going in for sure. The estimate of completion is Spring 2007.
makai1, I just emailed your site to all of my Sox friends. They will love it.
THANKS!
