Girls weekend spa trip
Hi everyone,
I'm reposting with more expansive tagging.
I want to plan a long weekend with my sisters (4 of us) to celebrate a significant birthday.
I'd like to travel anytime from late April through the middle of June. This would be 3 days, 2 nights (or 4 days, 3 nights) and I'm thinking it would be fun to do something spa-like...hiking, yoga, healthy food, relaxing activities.
I just saw the spa review newsletter and a couple of those suggestions look interesting, but most seem priced for a whole week. I'm thinking of spending around $600, not including airfare, and I'd like to stay in the States, i.e. FL, AZ, NM, CA--but if there are good options for other warm places, I'd be interested in hearing your advice.
I have some flexibility with dates, price, and location. Any good experiences with this sort of girls weekend that you can share will be much appreciated.

I have a similar thread going with great suggestions for AZ:
http://www.fodors.com/community/unit...ls-getaway.cfm
New Mexico -- Santa Fe in particular, also has some great places. But prices go up in summer, opposite of AZ. Santa Fe would be great for April or May.
I will post some ideas but check out tenthousandwaves.com to start.
You would fly into Albuquerque [code ABQ] and if your can fly Southwest, they have great deals to both ABQ and PHX. www.southwest.com

Just north of ABQ is The Hyatt Tamaya. It is a lovely property, with an excellent spa. There are local restaurants to have some good food, some hikes that are amazing. I have been to the spa several times. I have eaten at hotel and walked the trails that run along the Rio Grande. I've not stayed, because I live just minutes away, but it is a really beautiful and peaceful place.
It is close to Santa Fe [about 45 mins, by car or rail]to spend a bit of time there or 30 minutes to see some ABQ sites.
There are a few hotels around the Plaza area of Santa Fe that have spas which would be nice too.

I like the spa at the Westin Kierland in Scottsdale; right near Kierland Commons, a great shopping area that is within walking distance. I also really like the Camelback Inn in Scottsdale. Rooms are in casitas (as opposed to all being in one building) and fabulous spa treatments.

Someone posted a trip report in the last year about a spa weekend for girls in Yountville, CA (Napa Valley). It sounded so wonderful and included a great meal at Michael Chiarello's Bottega. You'd have plenty of shopping, wine tasting and fine dining.

Thank you so much everyone. These are great recommendations and when we get back I will post a trip report.
orangetravelcat: thanks for describing a 'casita' I had seen it in several hotel descriptions and wondered...
I will also look for the trip report about Napa Valley, Grasshopper.

I didn't see Enchantment Resort listed yet. It has the beautiful Mi Amo Spa which is separate from the lodging of Enchantment Resort. The spa has it's own dining, swimming pool & spa facilities on the premises if you choose to not to use the lodging's large pool and facilities. And, it is set in a gorgeous canyon in Sedona.

Also, Ten Thousand Waves in Santa Fe is a serene Japanese influenced spa. Set in the mountains with outdoor tubs facing the pinon and wildlife. World-class services and just a short 10 minutes to town where you can find great dining and yoga classes. Hiking is not far in Bandalier or even Santa Fe mountain.

A ways from Santa Fe but.....I loved The Inn at Ojo Caliente. It is on the casual, understated side. Great hiking right behind the inn. A river runs nearby. If you're looking for nightlife this is definitely not the place. It's not far from Ghost Ranch which also affords good hiking. I'm going back next month and can hardly wait!
