Girls Trip to CA or FL?

Hi all, I am looking for a hotel to stay at towards the end of May (under $250 a night), two 20 year old girls, who can obviously not rent a car, so would need a hotel that is within walking distance to shopping, beach, restaurants. We have both been to California several times and tossed around the idea of Santa Monica or somewhere in Orange County. We also thought about Florida (Naples?). We both love to shop and would like some time on the beach too. New York City, possibly? No beach, but good shopping. Anywhere safe we could stay there?

Thank you so much in advance for your help! -Molly

For CA, San Diego's great. Good hotels downtown, close to waterfront, excellent restaurants, good, safe public transortation.
Also maybe Newport Beach or further north Santa Barbara, a very walkable city with good beaches and great restaurants. Have fun!

Where are you flying from, and how many days do you have? A full week or just a long weekend? Is it Memorial Day weekend??

Laguna Beach is a perfect place! There are many hotels that are walking distance to the beach, shops and restaurants there. The Holiday Inn would meet your budget, also check out the rates on the lagunabeachdot com website! ***kim***

We're flying from Chicago and we really have not decided on how long we would like to stay. We could stay for a whole week but were thinking more like 5 days. We're out of school May 16th so we were thinking about going sometime within the next week (around the 20th).

Thanks again for the help. I will check into Laguna Beach also. Any hotel recommendations?
