for desserts some night you can also look at
chikalicious.com, but I think I heard there are some dates they are closing for renovations, which surprised me b/c I thought they just did that last year, but you can look on their web page too.

Thanks escargot, will check those out. - great to be able to click and find the menu without having to go into each restaurants site. Hope chickalicious will be open by the time we are there, it says they reopen December 5th so if they are on schedule we should be in for some scrumptious deserts .... thank you!

kakalena, I really admire you.
When I pay a huge price for a steak, I really get upset if it's tough and tasteless. If I rent a car and it's run down, dirty, and underpowered despite the fact I paid for a big one, I get really emotional. If I pay a lot for a hotel room and get there to find I've been put in the smallest room in the building just above the dumpsters that get emptied at 4 AM, I might go balistic. And if I pay over a hundred dollars for a theatre ticket and can't even see the entire stage, well. .
It's just s theater/performance thing with me, not across the board. And I don't always buy partial views. I generally pick up something at TKTS or get face value tickets that are turned in before the performance. They are usually primo seats. If I was coming from overseas and really wanted to see a performance that had a small portion of the stage obscured I'd buy the ticket anyway.

Time to put things in proper perspective. It's not as easy as kakalena makes it sound to get last-minute "primo: tickets to a big hit like The Jersey Boys or Wicked. There is usually a line at the box office at those two theaters of people hoping to purchase returned tickets. And, the people at the head of the line often are waiting for hours in the hopes of getting tickets.
In other words, for a hit show like The Jersey Boys or Wicked, you just don't walk up to the box office and luck in and get tickets that fast. Sure, you might be lucky, but usually it means spending a bit of time--perhaps hours--waiting.
For other shows that are not as big hits as The Jersey Boys and Wicked, yes, it is possible to pop up at the box office and get "primo" seats, but it's not that simple for the big hits.

Hi!
So I've just recently seen Spamalot - it's the Monty Python musical. It was hilarious, and might be another one to throw into the mix.
As for Lee Jeans. 8th Avenue in midtown has a bunch of lower end retailers, where you might be able to find them. And probably for pretty cheap. One name that comes to mind is OMG, but if you walk between 42nd and 34th (around there, I'm not sure exactly where) you should see the kinds of stores I'm talking about.
Another touristy spot you might want to hit is Top of the Rock. It's supposed to have the best views in Manhattan, and it just opened. It's on the top of Rockefeller center. I've also enjoyed the tours of NBC that I've been on when I'm there.
Have fun!

Hello again guys, after a while off the boards (due to having to get the aftermath of a housefire sorted
)I'm back with some more questions. I have been looking at some more show possibilities - can anyone comment on Stomp, Naked Boys Singing and Altar Boyz? I have seen a lot of recommendations for Stomp and Altar Boyz but most recs mention it being suitable for teens - would you also recommend those for a couple in their mid 30's (ie us!) bearing in mind our past show preferences? Also what about Naked Boyz? Too much to take hubby too????
Shirley, thanks for the info on areas to check for Lee - those type of places sound promising. I'm not too sure about Spamalot - we're not that into Monty Python but thanks for the suggestion all the same.
Jed, yes I was trying to post in green but slipped up with the typo - next time I'll preview!

Stomp is great! I saw it several years ago and loved it. But it is a percussive dance show more than a Broadway show. They did a special for HBO called "Stomp Out Loud" a couple years back when it was really popular. Check on YouTube. There's a clip up there which should give you an idea.
I loved it, but it's not traditional Broadway. If you liked Blue Man Group, you'd probably get into it.
PS - sorry to hear about the house fire. Hope all is well now.
