help with NYC broadway show choice

I need some advice regarding which Broadway show to choose. We have an option to see either Producers, Hairspray or Wedding Singer. Which would you choose?
Thanks for your input!

Not knowing anything about your taste in shows, it's not easy making a recommendation! Having said that, I'd go with either Hairspray or The Producers. Incidentally, both have discount offers on www.playbill.com and www.broadwaybox.com.

Depends on who "we" is. The Producers, although very funny and entertainin, offended some people. Hairspray is colorful, buoyant, and fun. That would be my choice.

Having seen all 3, if I were too choose which one to see again, I would rank them 1.Hairspray, 2.Wedding Singer, 3. Producers. Like anything, its a matter of your personal tastes, but I don't think you will go wrong in choosing from any of the three.

Howard, I saw the Fodors New York 2006 edition yesterday at Barnes and Noble. You and bugswife are quoted (on the first pages of two of the chapters) in there- you for a MoMA statement and bugsife for a post on a ballet she saw at Lincoln Center.

Howrad, the only thing that would have made me happier than seeing you and bugswife in there is if they'd have had the good sense to quote mclaurie too!

Just saw Hairspray in NYC with mother (82), niece (10) and college grad student daughter (26) We all loved it. Current cast is WONDERFUL. I saw The Producers in London and thought it excellent but Hairspray would be my choice.

Went to see Hairspray with sister and niece, very good. Plus if you are looking for a deal. The day of the show they have a raffle for tickets, everyone can put there name in the raffle. i got picked which help out money wise. Also, went to mama mia and waited in line at 3:00pm for that nights show and got 20.00 tickets if you don't mind standing up it was great because you get assigned standing position in the back great view over everyone and you can drink you beer or wine during the show. Just some helpful suggestions moneywise for anyone.

Thanks so much for all the great tips! I think Hairspray is the ticket! We already have tickets for Wicked. Glad to get a recommendation for that also.
It's always so helpful to get feedback from you kind people out there!

And for your next trip, consider Dirty Rotten Scoundrels. It was one of my husband's TKT booth picks that I hadn't even heard of, but it was the funniest show I've seen!

cliquot1, if you are going to see Wicked, go ahead and buy the CD and listen to it lots before you go to the show. Not only is it wonderful music, it really adds to the experience in the theatre.

Based on popular feedback, this time around we will see Hairspray but next time I want to see Dirty Rotten Scoundrels. And Starrsville, thanks so much for the wonderful tip. I'm heading out now to buy the Wicked CD.
I've read the book, and am anxious to now see the play. Thanks all!
