Getting Ready for First Time Trip and Honeymoom to Hawaii.. Give Me Suggestios!

We are going to Hawaii in less than three months and I am looking for must-dos and must-sees!

We are staying in Maui for 6 nights at the Hyatt and Kauai for 4 nights at they Hyatt.

Any suggestions as far as activities, dinner and so on?

Def. want to do the helicopter tour

VitaAnn,

You will love the Hyatt on Kaua`i. While there visit Anara Spa.

Take a drive up to Hanalei, park at the pier and take a walk along the beach and soak up the serenity and go for a swim in the bay.

Lilikoi chiffon pie at Hamura's Saimin in Lihue. We get it to go and take it to the beach and eat it while listening to the waves in the dark.

Snorkeling at Makua Beach.

Snorkeling at Ke'e Beach

Tour and/or hike Waimea Canyon.

Get a copy of the Kaua`i Revealed book for a good guide book on the island.

Have a great trip.

-Bill

Hi! We honeymooned last summer and spent part of our time at the Maui Hyatt and really enjoyed it. It is a very nice hotel with a great pool and lovely rooms. For dinners, we enjoyed Hula Grill, Leilani's (both just a walk away to Whaler's Village), Cheeseburger in Paradise (Lahaina) and our favorite was Nick's Fishmarket in Wailea. The restaurants were great in Maui, lots of wonderful choices.

We did do the Road to Hana and saw some pretty scenery, but the roads are VERY windy, and I ended up getting sick twice on the side of the road Lots of people are just fine with it, though.

If you are into snorkeling, we had a wonderful trip to Molokini and Lanai through Pacific Whale Foundation. We also snorkeled from the shore at Black Rock, Kapalua Bay, and Honolua Bay, all recommended.

Definitely get a copy of "Maui Revealed" or "Hawaii for Dummies"...we had both of these with us and they helped a lot for restaurant, beach, activities, directions, etc...Also, if you do a search, you should find plenty of trip reports, mine included!

Hi VitaAnn,

Congratulations and best wishes for your wonderful honeymoon.

My MUST-do recommendations would include the following:

...DO breathe in deeply from the first moment you disembark from the plane, feeling for the first time the very tropical air that continues to bring us back to these enchanting islands.

...DO take time to sit back and relax, closing your eyes until you melt with happiness from the glorious sun kissing your skin.

...DO enjoy the fragrant scent of plumeria lightly floating through the air.

...DO listen to the sound of the wind blowing against the palm fronds, and the ocean’s waves gently falling upon the sand time after time.

...DO forget about anything that is without joy, for this is your honeymoon. It and Hawaii will now forever be in your heart.

Aloha, Tiff

Tiff, reading your message, I could almost close my eyes and be there! Thank you!

I can't wait to get off that plane again in July......as we celebrate our 25th wedding anniversary in Hawaii (also celebrated our 20th there)

The #1 must-do in my opinion is the helicopter flight over Kauai. Breathtaking, gorgeous, awe-insiring....definitely the coolest thing I've ever done. This island is the one you want to fly over...every inch of it is amazing.

Also on Kauai: Waimea Canyon, Napali Coast, Bubba Burgers. And yes....stop and sniff the Plumeria!

On Maui, the Molokini snorkeling trip is loads of fun. Hana Highway is fabulous, especially if you realize that the goal is not to get to Hana, but to enjoy yourself along the way. Make sure you stop at the little roadside stand, Halfway To Hana, and buy some banana bread...it's fabulous!

Other little things --
*Try some POG juice. It's SO good!

*Go see a luau at some point, as they are tacky fun with delicious food.

*Get the Kauai and Maui Revealed books (I think that's what they are called) and go to what they call "Secret Beach" on Kauai. We had the whole gorgeous beach to ourselves for hours. Amazing.

Have fun! It is paradise.
