As promised.....my report. The Sonoma Airporter was a very good choice. I booked myself on the 6:40 a.m. shuttle so I could be in Sonoma by 8 a.m. However, the night before I could not sleep because there was a loud Bastille Day block party at the Irish pub next door to my hotel. Sooooooo, you guessed it--I overslept. At 6:43 a.m., the shuttle driver called me to see where I was. He was nice enough to say he'd meet me at his next stop, which was a 5 minute cab ride for me. AND, he felt like kicking himself for not calling me earlier! how's THAT? It was totally my fault! So needless to say, the service was very good, very efficient, and (for me) worth it. I managed to catch a ride back to San Francisco with friends.
