Getting from Fort Lauderdale to Miami without a car??
Hi,I am off to Fort Lauderdale next week and would like to take a side trip to South Beach. (Just want to check it out for the day) What is the most convenient and cheapest way to get there without a car? Thanks

Unfortunate for you Jam, there is no time-efficient way of getting to Sobe without a car. There is a tri-rail in FLL, but that leaves you by the Miami airport, and you will be stuck taking a cab--$$$--or worse, have to take 3 or 4 buses to get there.
My advice to you is have fun in the sun, rent a car and avoid the hassles of public transportation...

I agree with maggy. NO way you can do taxi or public transportation from FL to Miami, it's about 45 minutes and in a taxi, the way the traffic is...you'll get here the next day. LOL
Not because I know the area, but, if you take all of US1 and to the scenic drive, with a rental car, you'll be okay. For people who live in Miami or FLL, driving on the highways it's easy, so I'll refrain from telling you to take I-95 or the turnpike.
Have a fun time!
