"get-away" ideas for a wedding gift

My brother ,who lives in the Albany area, is getting married in June. Both the bride and groom are in their mid forties and own a home together.

Given that they already have everything they need, I thought to give them a week-end get-away as a wedding gift.

So far, I'm leaning heavily toward booking at the Mirror Lake Inn in Lake Placid.

I am open to other suggestions from anyone familiar with the upstate NY area. Ideally, looking for:

- a "romantic",upscale, property with a lot of ambience, preferably with a great view

- a location which provides access to some interesting things to do

- within a 2-3 hour drive of Albany

I'd even consider Montreal as a possibility

Thanks in advance ,everyone!

How about here: www.mirbeau.com (The website dose not do this justice) Close to shopping, wineries, music venues, summer festivals and upscale restaurants.

Williamstown, Mass - The world class Clark Museum, MoCa Museum in nearby North Adams, Williamstown Theater Festival (check dates and shows) - good dining. A lovely B&B - The Birches at Steep Acres FArm - get the room with the jacuzzi.

The Mayflower Inn in Washington Ct. is often mentioned as a romantic getaway.

And what about Saratoga Springs? Blantyre in Lenox Mass is another idea. http://www.tripadvisor.com/Hotel_Rev...achusetts.html

How about Tanglewood tickets and a night at Cranwell? The resort is waving minimum night requirements for Tanglewood ticket holders.
