I am staying at the Fairmont Washington for a meeting next week. I am looking for recommendations for restaurants. I have planned a large group dinner one evening at Asia Nora but have two more nights where there will probably be small groups. I am thinking something fun, casual. Also, does anyone know of a good map of Georgetown that would have stores, restaurants, etc on it. I was hoping there was something online I could print. I won't have a lot of free time so just planning to walk around and hang out when I do.

A great restaurant that had a good price prefix menu was Peacock. Loved the food!

A great place, just off of the main street is Cafe La Ruce. It's a small french bistro. Absolutely, no atmosphere, but honestly the best food in DC!

There is a Duck and Decantor at the end of the street, very good place to grab a coffee and biscotti and people watch.

For desert, make sure you stop by the Argentine Gelato place, it's new, and honestly so good!

A great place to grab a beer is on the dock, just down from Georgetown. If its nice out, you'll see 1,000 people sunning themselves on the river.

Wear comfortable walking shoes, there is no metro that goes there, so either you hoof it, or you cab it (which can get expensive).

Don't miss the exercist stairs at the end of georgetown (next to the gas station). Great to see at night!

Cafe Milano is also good (next to peacock) if you are looking for a good place to take a group. Good italian food, basic italian atmosphere.

The DC Circulator Bus runs between Union Station to Georgetown. Fare is $1, keep your receipt and ride for the remainder of the day. I'm not sure how late it runs.

I like using maps.yahoo.com because you can select different types of business and see an overlay showing their locations on the map. Hope that helps.

Mee N' You on M street has great atmosphere. 1789 has great if pricey food. I find Milano to be cheesy and overrated, but to each his own. The waterfront has few fairly bland restaurants like Sequoia but it's one of the best locations in town with Potomac views, good for having drinks if you don't mind huge crowds.

What are the exercist stairs? Are they close to the Fairmont? Thanks for all the suggestions. Keep them coming!

One of Washington Post restaurant critic Tom Sietsema's favorite eating establishments is 1789, which he raves about. You might want to ask him a question during his Wednesday chat at washingtonpost.com. His chat begins at 11 AM but you ought to ask him a question much earlier in the day to get it in.

"The Exorcist" (not exercist) stairs are featured in the the movie. The priest falls down them and dies. Super creepy to see in person...

The stairs are at the 3600 block of Prospect, leading to M Street.

if you go to "the stairs" you'll notice the side of the house is nowhere NEAR the stairs as that mock up of the side of the house was in the movie..just don't want you to be disappointed.

Look into Filomena for good home-made Italian food in Georgetown. Fun atmosphere, too
