Gee Whiz, geez louise, and Cheeses were all used by folks who wanted to swear, but didn't want to use the "lord's name in vain".

How nice was it in the days when Jesus and Damn were swear words??!

Jeez, after watching Napoleon Dynamite so many times we don't use anything but a heartfelt "Gosh!" when expressing frustration.
