I never thought about it until just now, but when I start a sentence with "geez," it usually means I'm either surprised or frustrated.

I always thought Geez was just a shortened form of Gee Whiz--would never have thought it had any relation to Jesus.

Yes, "Holy". At least that was my old man's version when working on the family car - often interspersed with more colourful expletives which I'll spare gentler readers.
