Snowrooster, I'm sorry you had such a bad experience at Dollywood. I consider it my "home park," and my family usually has annual passes. We usually take a group of kids of different ages every year and they all enjoy different aspects of the park. I'm not sure what you were looking for as far as rides for your little kids, but perhaps the Dreamland Ridge area wasn't open yet? That was added a couple years ago and it's always PACKED with kids. There are a lot of activities for kids there -- water cannons and a HUGE treehouse for climbing, and other things.
Dollywood grew very slowly for a while, but the last few years they've really been ramping up the spending and adding new areas to the park while revamping the older areas.
I hope you have a better experience the next time you visit!

snowrooster...you NEVER eat BBQ in Tennessee east of the Tennessee River..You either eat BBQ in West Tennessee or in North Carolina.
Corky's is different..it's a Memphis company...
etattar...we just returned from our weekend and it was delightful..Didn't have a chance to drive out the direction of your cabins, but the mountains were beautiful.

iceeu2 = what a bold statement about Tennessee bbq!
Have you ever eaten at Ridgewood?
How about The Firehouse, Pratts, or Dixie BBQ?
One should stay away from chain BBQ restaurants if at all possible, in my experience.

xrae...I guess it's whatever you are raised on....and growing up in West Tennessee near Memphis...that's BBQ as I know it...and to us BBQ is pork...smoked and chopped or pulled. BBQ is not the sauce...and ribs are ribs....not bbq. I have never even heard of Ridgwood or the places you mentioned. Different strokes for different folks, I guess.
etattar...it was not cold over the weekend. Beautiful, clear weather for a change. We are going back in a couple of weekends, so the weather may be totally different then. We stayed at Laurel Crest in Pigeon Forge..you turn at traffic light #3..That's also where we will stay in a couple of weekends. When we go up in July with some friends, we are staying at Oak Haven..really great place.
etattar, do you want me to pick up some books and brochures for your grandchildren to read to you on the ride to The Smokies?..Will be glad to to that for you.
