Personally, I find Navy Pier really disappointing. But maybe that's because I'm a Chicago native. I heard other tourists really enjoyed it. Although, the ferris wheel did scare the shit out of me. I'm not afraid of heights but for some reason being on top of that ferris wheel totally freaked me out. You can have the best view of the city skyline from up there and take great pictures. Also, try attending the Baton show on Clark Street (in the River North area). They have some great female impersonators.

You're getting great advice. I live downtown between the Hancock & the lake. The Omni on Michigan Ave. is wonderfully located. Funny that people are reading your message so quickly that they miss the comma between shopping and Navy Pier. For comparing hotels/locations, go to www.quikbook.com. If Steppenwolf has begun their new season, try to get tickets -- it's always fabulous. Have a great time!

I didn't read her message too quickly. I was simply pointing out that I don't think Navy Pier is necessarily worth the trip unless your going for a particular event/show or going to eat.

I am in agreement with Holly, I didn't misinterpret Ronda's request, either - she asked about Navy Pier - I responded to forget about it - it has nothing to do with shopping. It is lousy period. And, I also think the ferris wheel is an eyesore.
Lisa: Sutton Place is a little north of the "Mag Mile" - I think it's a nice location - you can walk or take a cab.

Go see Mammia Mia at the Cadillac Palace downtown. Fun dance-in-the-aisles musical full of ABBA music (and I'm not even an ABBA fan!). You can get tix at ticketmaster online. Skip Navy Pier, boring. The Art Institute is wonderful, as well as the Field Museum where Sue the T-rex lives, and of course shop shop shop!
