From Europe to Las Vegas

Can anyone recommend a good website for finding good airfares or a vacation package between Munich or Zurich and Las Vegas? We can take advantage of last minute "deals." I've tried the usual sites (travelocity, etc..) but mostly am finding travel to L.V. from within the U.S.

Virgin Atlantic is the only European airline I know that flies to Las Vegas (from London). Your other option is to fly to NY and change planes there. Jet Blue is a good low cost carrier from JFK (and maybe also EWR Newark).

Look on travelzoo.com

I believe BMI is also a British airline and flies to Vegas from London. There are probably no non-stop flights from Germany to Las Vegas. I second the idea of trying to find a cheap flight to NYC (which is usually pretty easy to do) and a cheap flight from there to Vegas.

In addition to Jet Blue, try Southwest and America West. In an hour or so of watching planes take off and land at the LV airport, about 90% of them were from these two airlines. America West (and probably Southwest) often offers package deals on flights and hotel rooms, but check to see how they compare to airfare and hotel purchased separately. They're not always a good deal.

You could probably do Munich to Chicago, Chicago to LV as well. They have so many flights to LV now from both Chicago airports that the prices have got to be great.

Southwest may not be the best option for you. It has no nonstops from New York to Las Vegas. It does have nonstops from Chicago, but from Midway Airport, not O'Hare.

Hi cliffy, I had friends that flew from Italy to JFK in NY. Then they took JetBlue from JFK to LasVegas.

They were very impressed with JetBlue, which made me happy as I had suggested this to them.

Cliffy-
I'm actually looking at at the same route, in the other direction. I've found that Delta and Continental have the most direct flights between Las Vegas and Zurich. They both have 1 stop each, either Atlanta, GA or New York, New York.

The biggest benefit to using them instead of changing to Jet Blue, etc. when you get to the US is that your tickets are all with 1 airline. If something happens and you miss your connecting flight, you'll be taken care of.

On the flip side, sometimes it can be cheaper to fly to JFK and then hop a Jet Blue or Southwest flight. Southwest flies out of New York, but not out of JFK, so that would involve an airport change as well.

For discount sites, I usually look on orbitz.com, but check the airlines' site as well. You should be able to change to an international destination on either site. I believe Delta offers vacation packages, but I'm not certain.

Good luck! I'm interested in what you find- so keep us updated !

Wow! So helpful. Thanks to all for your responses. Now the plan has changed: my husband to be is attending a conference in SF in August. We're going to abandon the Vegas idea for Lake Tahoe. I will fly from Zurich or Munich to SF, meet him there and we will drive to Tahoe. Hotel and wedding chapel suggestions would be most welcomed.
