We've stayed at the Cotton Gin. It was out of town. All rooms are individual cottages with a rustic feel. They all have fireplaces and it was nice, but not great. What we do recommend is their restaurant. We in Fredricksburg for 3 days and the dinner there was the best meal we had the whole weekend. We'd definitely go back to the restaurant.

We stayed at one of the Camp David cottages, booked with Gastehaus Schmidt. The cottage was great, the breakfast were delivered to your door. We were there in April and the wildflowers were blooming. We also enjoyed dinner the the Herb Farm. We made reservations the same day. Good winerys in the area also.

I love Austin Street Retreat - Kristen. It is a lovely property w/ a HUGE patio area. I've seen all the Austin Street rooms except El Jefe and Kristens is by far the nicest. You can book thru Gastehaus Schmidt - they have a website, so you can check out pictures of the properties. Please note that there is NO breakfast, but they have a small fridge, microwave and coffee pot.
When in Fredericksburg, be sure and check out the Lincoln Street Wine Bar if you haven't previously been there.
Have fun!!

Although it is not in town, we've had a wonderful time at Enchanted Acres. It is a separate cottage and you are given a Continental breakfast the night before to enjoy the next day -- so you can relax in the morning. It is beautiful and the owners are very nice. They also do fly-fishing trips for husbands while the ladies shop in town.

Too late, I'm sure, but I'd like to recommend the Das Keidel Inn in Fredericksburg. It is at the corner of Main Street and Washington, right in the midst of things. The lovely innkeepers live in the main house, with 4 rooms for rental on the 2nd level - all very nice. Out back is a separate 'gasthaus' which is the one I have rented twice. It is a 2-story guest house with a bedroom and toilet upstairs, pull-out sofa and full bath downstairs. Big kitchen. It's a wonderful place to stay and the innkeepers are very helpful about the area. I was there Sep. 1st and it was a total of $137 to rent the guesthouse. Full breakfast in the main house is included. If you need pictures, let me know. The website is very basic <http://www.daskeidelinn.com/pricing.html>, so just ask if you have any other questions.

Right on Main street. Great beer too...rooms are very nice and each has a particular theme. We stayed at the "Rustic" which overlooks main street. Included beer tasting each night you stay.
