bennnie, you would be in heaven if you lived in our school distrct. The district is proposing a school tax INCREASE of $828 for a $250,000 home for the next 20 years!!!! And get this, our school system received the highest possible education rating the state of MN can give.

Also, I can't figure out those private contractors either. They seldom return phone calls. Maybe they need more competition.

Should have been in the Richardson,TX ISD.
Only way to retaliate against the taxes and the lack of "education" was to move and sell my house of 25 years to folks with 15 primary and secondary children.

Hi all, happy Friday!

Rant: Natural disasters on our planet.

Rant: The rain. The horrible rain.

Rant/Rave: I hear our pumps running - that means the water table is high. So far my office is dry, but if it doesn't stop it will only be a matter of time. Please stop raining.

Rant: My poor son's apartment has a water problem - seems to be a flashing problem on the outside of the apartment building. The carpeting is drenched five feet into the room.

Rant: Another weather related problem. We have had no phone service since Tuesday and set up an appointment for the repairman to come on Thursday. My DH stood home just for them, a "line" man came, did not have the appropriate equipment, could not fix (even though DH explained the problem -happened before, so we knew what the problem was), and left. Now they won't come until next week sometime, maybe...sigh...

Rant: My husband leaves for Houston on Sunday for the week. It's supposed to be windy here on Sunday - I hope it won't cause flight delays.

Rave: Tomorrow I will take my last exam. Please God, let me pass.

Rave: The people who make Fodors fun - you make me laugh too

!!!!CAPH!!!! I am so, so, so incredibly happy to read your post What encouraging and wonderful news. Continued best wishes for you all!

Happy Anniversary Tiff Glad I was able to "entertain" you - take care of yourself.

Happy Birthday Jocelyn What's this I hear about deep fried pickles!?!

Alisa, congratulations!!

PM, glad you are back from the dust bowl. Of course they all love you there, they would be fools not to. Sending the big guy to your neck of the woods - keep him out of trouble, would ya?!?

Rave: The NY/NJ GTG - still looking forward to it, LOL. I think I might just show up with a bag over my head - I think I remember seeing that once on the "Gong Show". Yeah, I know, hard to believe, right

Peace and good health to everyone. Safe travels, everyone

Don't know if you are still following this thread Bennie, but apparently you are unaware that the taxpayers in our district are supporting "sub-par teachers hiding behind their tenure."

I will refrain from expressing my opinion on the individual that made this remark at the remote risk that he is a fodorite (although I serriously doubt that).

Rave: It's Friday night!

BTTilke, please encourage those considering euthanizing their pets to contact the local rescue and see if one of the groups will help them get the pet placed on www.petfinder.org. They may find a home that way. No one should have to make that choice to keep their homes. There is a special place in hell for the new landlord.

Bonniebroad, at the Dixie Classic Fair this year they had fried oreos...but no fried banana pudding. The guys I know who tried the oreos claimed they were a rave.

Just in fun, jorr..

"Also, I can't figure out those private contractors either. They seldom return phone calls. Maybe they need more competition."

Exactly!! That's why you should never expect a call back from a governmental agency.

Have a good weekend you all!

Rant: My youngest son was robbed again. He has a moron for a roommate. Always leaves the door unlocked. His new digital camera and Ipod were stolen. Thank God he did not walk in on this robbery - that is my rave.

CAPH that is fabulous!

seetheworld, is your son living in a dorm? You may be able to claim the stolen items on your homeowners. I'd send moron's parents a bill.

I saw a post about the Flying Spaghetti Monster. For Fodorites who haven't heard of it, google it and see what you get.

Hi Go. Yes he lives in a dorm. Fortunately we took out an insurance policy for theft (with only a $25 deductable). They had all the laptop cables disconnected but failed to disconnect the security cable - thank goodness.

The moron's computer was stolen. He would like to keep this information from his mother - how? I don't want to know. My son yelled and screamed at the moron who now promises to lock the friggin door. I wasn't satisfied with that. I personally spoke with said moron and gave him a piece of my mind. He offered to "replace" the property - no thanks. Don't want to know anything about that, thank you very much.

He probably wants to keep the information from his mother because it he's an idiot and his parents have dealt with this behavior.

I would call his mom just to be mean

I remembered, Jocelyn, because it's mine too. I'm in Savannah and I've already started celebrating. Doesn't get much better than this!

Hope yours is wonderful tomorrow!
