Freaky Friday Rants and Raves May 6th

This week is all raves:
Weather is great and flowers are just unsurpassed on my campus and at home.
Daughter is taking me on a outdoors surprise???? (still don't know, but it ends in a brunch- think it may be an obstacle race/something else)way out in Pilcher Park Wood Sunday morning. Best Mother's Day ever (an adventure). She's a Mom too, so we both get to have fun.
White Sox 21-7 record. And the fans at the park are better than ever- although now the fair weather fans are showing up in droves, so it is harder to park.
Brother coming home from Iraq for his daughter's college graduation next month for sure. Going out with his wife tomorrow to see Interpreter.
Everybody is walking around except my Mom but she's still laughing and pulling St. Joseph Day Bread out of the freezer.
My Ferris Bueller Day is next week and I'm in the first row balcony for Wicked.
California trip May 20-24 is fully on.
Garden will be fully planted by Monday.
Kildeers in the prairie behind me are hatching (this is the first time in 4 or 5 years that the chicks have made it)
(Wow do I have a lot of things to be thankful for)
Only rant is my guy is still full of bronchitis etc.-actually getting worse.
But as we age we all have health issues, just hoping for all that they are the ones that you can live a decent life with today.
Biggest Rave: SEMESTER IS OVER. And only 2 months to go to end this fiscal year- then work will be less stressful for July/ Aug. when the pier is waiting.

Bennie, What a generous compliment to your mother-in-law. You always seem like the nicest person!
Sam, I'm sad for your son and his friend. But am overwhelmed to read that there are still parents out there who believe in consequences. I'm sure he'll benefit greatly by their decision in the long run - but I bet it's killing them.
Congratulations to all who are feeling empowered today! And Happy Mother's Day to all you Moms!

Rave--Had an incredible time on my girls weekend last week! Old friends came down from Seattle and we had a grand time here in Portland. Beautiful weather, lots of drinks, shopping, and catching up.
Rant--Our Golden had a lump removed this week. The good news is that it has not slowed her down one bit!
Rave--Headed to Seattle this weekend for my best friends surprise 40th birthday party. Our children will see their old friends, and we will all have Mother's Day together.

mms - as the "mother" of a 12 year old lab who had a cancerous growth removed last year, I can relate, especially to the resilience of these wonderful creatures! Thanks for your generous good wishes and have a great Mother's Day weekend!

Rave: Got green lights on trip down to SMdA, so no duty on the wagon full of wine.
Rave: Great, fairly mild very dry weather.

Rave: SO will be here Tuesday - the 10th is Mother's Day in MX.
Rant/Rave: Picking up after the dog in a city environment - a small contribution to cleaner living.

Good Friday everyone!
Looks like a iffy weekend weather wise for those of us here in NJ. But since I just transplanted some large bushes, I'm not totally complaining. The bushes really need the extra water.
Big Rave: DD#1 got a job. She graduates from college in two weeks and has a job already. She will live at home until she has a few dollars saved. And her job doesn't begin until July so she'll have some down time until then.
Rant: Creepy person who keeps calling my cell phone. Verizon says nothing they can do. So I'm off to change my phone number.
Rave: Everyone is healthy in my home this week.
Rave: DS#1 has new GF. We're sad he broke up with the last one after 4 years but such is life. And he really seems to like the new GF.
Mom...I miss you and even though you're not here on earth any more, I want to wish and a Happy Mothers Day and thanks for everything.

Rave: My daughter is coming home from college today. DH is in Dallas picking her up.
Mikemo - I was going to email you with some restaurant suggestions but I did not go. They fended for themsevles!!
We will be taking her back to SMU in July.
Rant: A client who cannot pull the trigger and make their decision. Too many top dogs who wnat to be part of the final decision I guess.

bamakelly - We flew into Atlanta and on the drive back to Birmingham, we got a glimpse of all the doings at Taledega. Didn't know there were so many Winnebagos in the world! ;-). Overall, we didn't venture out that much - mostly visited the family. But we did make it to the Summit and the Cheesecake Factory. Apparently this is my niece's favorite. Did some nice shopping at the Parisianne. The mass was lovely at St. Francis Xavier - my niece looked radiant. And the weather was perfect. We took a stroll in the Botanical Gardens - so picturesque! Between my very pregnant sister-in-law and my elderly mom, we didn't get too far! All in all in was a wonderful trip.

Finally some nice weather here in Canada's southwest. Wisteria is blooming, herons are flying by, cruise ship season is underway. Vibrant greens and sparkling blues made for a most beautiful flight over here and the San Juans.
I hope those lucky enough to still have mothers have a most enjoyable Mother's Day.

Huge Rave--Medical opinion #3 for DS just came in and it is great news!!! The doctor is the head of the dept. and he is not worried about DS at all. So we can relax for now and just follow up in a few months. Whew!!!
Another Rave--The Fodorites that have been so supportive through this! I also got some great local information from one that was very helpful...so you never truly know just how great these boards can be

Rant:ah an old house..we dismantled the fireplace in preparation for tiling and ended up having to have a whole new firebox built. The good news is we trusted the folks who did the work. SOmeday, it should look great!
Rant: SO's surgery on Monday. It should go well. These events are always reminders of the swift and transient nature of it all. I've taken the first part of the week off to be at hospital as much as possible and have greatly reduced hours the rest of the week to be on watch at home.
Rave: a lovely Mothers Day dinner planned with extended family in Napa.
BIL is a fireman who is making bbq ribs-a firehouse specialty!
Happy Mothers Day to all and a good thought to all enduring life's trials.

Rave: Meant for last week but the FFR&R got deleted before I could post. The LongBoatKey Post Office in FL. was dedicated to my late BIL, Lt.Gen.(Ret.) James V. Edmundson. A true American hero and gentleman.
Rave: Fodor's that help other Fodor's, such as delivering school supplies to teachers.
Rave: Friends that care and listen when life is a bit of a turmoil.
Rave: Family that works together when a younger member needs some direction and strong guidance.
Rave: A friend who received the results of her medical exams and found out she is healthy and can now continue on with her planned trip.
Rave: All mothers including those who are motherly even when they don't have their own children.
Rave: Blue sky and sushine today after several days of gray skies.
Happy Mother's Day to all of you. May you all be able to spend your day in whatever ever way you wish.
And prayers and good thoughts to all of you that are dealing with health issues, stress and confusion.

Rant: Our kids won't be with us
Rave: Heading to Boston in two weeks for our oldest son's commencement! They have an interesting speaker lined up...

Rave: The youngest DS is diligently looking for summer employment. His resume looks pretty good for a young lad.
