: Freaky Friday Rants and Raves December 17

Rant: Fodor trivia contests too "U.S." oriented. It is a big world and there must be more international trival.

Rave: Plum puddings for gifting came out wonderful!

I agree with you about the trivia questions.

Rave: My eye exam results turned out ok after a scary start.
Rant: Would have had much more fun spending the $215 for medical tests this month on Christmas presents.

Rave: We got 106 pages of my husband's life story completed.
Rant: That only gets him to age 25.
Rave: I'm lucky to have found him at any age.

Rave: Our paperwhites are blooming.

Rave- Going to Florida in a week.

Rant- Have to come home from Florida.

Rave- Christmas shopping is done. My family is healthy. And I feel like a lucky woman this week.

Rave: Oldest son arrives from NYC Tuesday evening.

Rave: Thursday oldest son's fiancee arrives and this will be her first time to our part of the woods. We love her.

Rave: Daughter and family will be here from St. Louis Christmas Day.

Rant: The nursing home where I have worked for almost 17 years is in difficulty. My job is uncertain come the first of the year.

RANT: Lori, I'm with you on ranting about the MTA hike. If I start working in the city, my monthly train ride will cost the same as a car payment! (Not that it isn't that much already!!)

Rant: I just found out on Wednesday (after turning down a job offer Monday) that my company will be dissolved around May of 2005. So now I am off to search for a new job. That and I am not getting a raise as a result.

Rant: That I am beginning to hate Long Island. I know life is what you make it, but unfortunately I've been spoiled living in the 5 boroughs and it's a very hard adjustment to shell out more money with make less. Also my commute time hasn't really changed at all.

Rave: Upcoming Christmas with family.

Rave: My christmas shopping is done.

Rant: Bad weather heading our way. I may just move to Las Vegas....what's a good newspaper to check for jobs?

Rave - my two youngest wanted to make cookies to give to their teachers so last night they did. The 8 year old made Magic Cookie Bars with very little help and the 10 year old made Chocolate Chocolate Chip Cookies (a double batch) and did it all by herself (she needed help adding 3/4 tsp plus 3/4 tsp but figured it out). And she stayed with it until they were all baked and packaged! I'm proud of them both and they were very pleased also.

Rave - My oldest daughter planned to be out of town for Christmas and has now changed her plans. She will be home so my dad and his wife, my brothers and sister and all of our spouses/SO and kids will be gathering together Christmas Eve.

Rant - my brother and his wife are separated and I will miss my SIL very much at this gathering.

Rant: This site is loading too slow these days. Makes my sneaking a peek during work much harder.

Rave : Christmas. Love all of it. Love the lights, the tree, the music, the gifts, the parties, church services, Santa Claus, friends, family, the reason why we celebrate (Christ's birth for this family). Fills me with hope and renewal each year.

Rant/Rave: My DH is possibly getting a promotion. Rant - More money and authority but it also means working nights. Not sure he's going to accept the position. Rave because his reasons for not wanting the position all center around that he'll have less time with me and our girls. I love that he continues to sacrifice prestige for something much more important.

Rant: Not many shopping days left.
Rave: Lots of people I love, to buy things for.
Rave: My two little granddaughters who mailed me some drawings they had done, even though they only live 5 minutes away. I'm taking them to see the Nutcracker ballet on Sunday and they're almost as excited about it as I am. The older one has seen it a few times and has been explaining it all to her little sister.
Rave: (and you've heard this from me before) - my last Ontario winter! Next year we'll be in BC.

Rave: ATA is staying put at Chicago Midway if judge approves gate leasing to Southwest.

Rave: Party tonight with neighbors, and tomorrow night is my family's Christmas dinner at my house as we are all far-flung on Christmas every year now. Manicotti is done and I am ready to see 5 little faces light up when Santa arrives. And my Santa's beard is REAL.(CLUE: I REALLY LIKE Santa.)

Rant: Arthritis, and spinal compression.
I hear you. And I am short enough already!

BIG RAVE: My mom and dad made it to their 60TH Anniversary this week on Dec. 15. I took a day off to take them out and they wouldn't go. But we all ended up making mondel bread and cookies, so that's ok.

Nope, I am not with child after all. I guess that would be a Rant/Rave, right?

At 30 years old, I'm ready, but I also need a change. I love NY, but it's definitely getting to be the time to move on to another place.

Anyone know a website where I can figure out where the nest place for me to live would be?

Rave--Had family from CA visiting earlier this week.

Rave--Christmas shopping/cards are all done and my disabled hand made it through.

Rave--Made plans for spring break already. Will go visit family in CA again.

Rave--Made plans for a short getaway next month for snowshoeing.

Rave--No rants

Happy Birthday to Elizabeth.

Best wishes to TxTravelPro.

April, a family member just gave us an entire notebook with the family tree and all the biographies of each person dating back to the very early 1600's. Someone down the line in your family will very much appreciate what you are doing
