PamSF, I got a pair of those shoes three years ago. I see them all over now compared to when I got them.

Rave---for the shoes.

Rant---the Knee thread is gone.

Rave---for Tiff, who was inspired by the "Do it Now!" thread and followed her dream.

Rave---for Andre Agassiz; we'll get to see him play again, maybe tomorrow? Love his smile and his class, on court and off. Keep it up Andre; we'd love to see you in the finals.

Rave: Keith Olbermann. Andre Agassi.
Rant: D. Rumsfeld

Jorr, you sure are prescient when it comes to the travel channel, lol!

Amaclise, you better make sure it is truly the job of your dreams with only 1 week off a year -- what is the world coming, to with companies expecting people to take off only 7 days a year? As the pope says, it's not good for the soul~!

Oooops! I should have just raved for "Andre" like everyone else. He is "Agassi". "Agassiz" (Louis) is the famous zoologist, and a mountain in the high Sierras.

I am extremely busy at work today so I'll read all of your R&Rs later. But for now I need to get a big rant off my chest:

RANT: DH called just now, his company has been sold and he will be laid off in 4-6 weeks. I can't believe this is happening again. We were supposed to leave for Hawaii in 4 weeks, but that might be cancelled.

Thanks for being there for me, and all the best to you.

PM, so sorry to hear about that. I hope it all works out in the end. Let us know.

enzian, There is also a lake Agassiz which I can see the ancient shore of from my window. It was the largest fresh water lake in the world. About 500 miles by 200 miles in the upper northern plains of the US and Canada. It dried up a few thousand years ago.

Rave: Primary elections are nearing the end----next Tuesday here in S. Fl.
Rant: Wall to wall campaign ads running just before the election. Sometimes the same candidate runs numerous ads during the same tv commercial break. Many are extremely nasty and negative. Doesn't matter whether Repub or Dem. Wouldn't it be great if they could run for something rather than against

Hit enter before completing my sentence. Think I made my point though.
Just wanted to add a very happy and safe Labor Day holiday to all.
A good time to think about all of the contributions made by all of the people who work very hard keep our country and it's economy going.
Enjoy!

Dear P_M, oh no! I'm so very sorry to hear your news. I was just reading in today's Statesman about the jobs being lost here in Austin due to the downturn in the housing market, all the different categories of jobs affected by that. Wow. Hugs to you both!

OWJ - prayers to you that your dreams will one day become reality.

JJ5 - I can so relate to cleaning things out and downsizing. We're trying to do the same. House is too big anymore, can't find where I put things, and why do I need 22 pairs of black shoes?

Rave: College football - Hook 'em Horns!
Rant: Why in heaven's name did they pick 11 am for a start time when it's 100 degrees outside?

Happy weekend y'all!

I don't know how the cat is. It bolted away and the owner couldn't find it. Thought it would be okay since it could run but I have my doubts since the thud under the car felt and sounded pretty bad. The owner was so pleasant though - said his dog had chased the cat out of the yard and there was nothing I could have done. I know that's true but I feel terrible anyway.

Best of luck on your marathon run. I'm in awe.

rave: brothers wedding is tomorrow.

rave: andre agassi. it must be said i've had a major crush on him since i was 13!

seetheworld...it's pleasant for me to hear you still love "seeing the world" with your dh. glad you enjoy it. ;-)

owj...best of luck. you got me thinking though...the very fact that you feel this way about children, and family (and your DH does too) seems big and important enough to me. and i applaud you for that alone. i see so many people in not-so-ooops situations, and people who are just not prepared or willing, but having children anyway...and it hurts me sometimes to see that it (seemingly) comes so easily to them.

p_m...so sorry to hear that, especially if you were looking forward to hawaii. it's like i always say though...when one door closes, another opens.
