Ryan, graduates of USC say they went to Carolina but no one says they are from Carolina. Sorry but no dice.

I was born in western North Carolina 48 years ago. Never, in my lifetime have I ever said I was from "Carolina". To be quite honest I don't think I have ever heard anyone say they are from "Carolina".

Ryan, you have me confused.

Mark Sanford is the biggest 'good ole boy' in the world, plantation owner and all, and would cut his tongue out than say he was from 'Carolina'. Furthermore, he spent the last six years in the United States Congress.

Well now, here in California one is either from Nor Cal or So Cal and sometimes Central Cal. Are we sure it is only one state?

razzledazzle,
From one Oregonian's perspective, it's more like one country with two or three states.

Mom was a '40 UNC/G grad and younger sis got her Doc at UNC in '74 - I have heard UNC referred to as "Carolina", but never heard anyone say they were from "Carolina"

Rant: "reckless driving" ticket on I-77 Virginia - 1st ticket ever! In slow lane with others passing me. Doing 70. He marked it as 82 with no sympathy for a "tourist". Points / ticket won't even affect me here in Canada, yet still very very annoying.

Rant: Not soon enough till next trip!

Rave: The fun of reading fodors forums, & planning & re-planning & planning again our trips!

Rave: Ummm... cool day but wonderful sunshine! & ... it's FRIDAY!

This is downright hilarious! I love it! Neither I, nor anyone I know from North Carolina, ever says they're from Carolina. People will say they graduated from "Carolina" (UNC-CH)..... People from N.C. and S.C. like people to know EXACTLY where they're from, and never like people to think they're from the "other" one!

Syv,
Challenge it in court!
There are many ways to avoid fines, points, higher insurance premiums, etc.
Unfortunately, you may need a lawyer, lol!

Well it's still Friday HERE on the left coast, which raises an interesting quetion, Ryan, about when Friday begins and ends on an international forum.

Rave: jor, I love this FFR&R thread which you started and which is such a great way for us all to keep up with each other's lives.

Rant: jor, it has now become such an institution that it is no longer just yours. Sometimes other people will start it instead of you. Don't let that bother you. You created something valuable and fun and lasting (as long as the editors see fit, of course).
