mms: Welcome back from vacation, we missed you. I'm sorry to hear about your MIL -- sending my thoughts your way.

P_M: Congratulations to your father and step-mom. Sounds like a big to-do!! Looking forward to hearing details next week.

My cats do generally run to the door to meet us when they hear our keys in the lock!

Rave: It's Friday! My last official day as an employee of the company I have worked for for the past 10 years. I've worked with great people and will miss their daily presence in my life.

Rave: Now I'm the owner of a new company! That makes me the boss! Guess I'd better get out there and start selling some office furniture!! If anybody needs some, give me a call!

Rave: Hard work rewarded!

OWJ, keeping your Shayna baby in my thoughts. Having a sick pet is very stressful! Sending healing wishes to her.

Statia, So sorry about Rudolph.

Rant: My own Nattie cat + had a mind of his own last night and vehemently and loudly refused to come in last night. He got to stay outside tied to his short leash in the front garden all night. This morning he's inside and back to normal.

Rant: One of my best friends e-mailed to say she'd had her second miscarriage. She is devestated.

Rave: Beautiful weather here in NJ!

Have a great weekend everyone! Trish

Rave: We leave next Wednesday for our drive trip from SoCal to St.Louis and back again. Baseball in Little Rock, St. Louis, KC, Cedar Rapids; then national and state parks along the way home.

Rant: I have a barely-potty-trained 2 year old. Am I nuts???

SeeTheWorld ~ I would still be very sleepy without my E.G., ha. I usually switch to mint tea if I need a decaf. I too, have never found a decent tasting decaf E.G., but if I do I'll let you know!

CD, thanks for the on the remodel, luckily it is a minor one, so all should go smoothly?????? Ha.

Trish ~ More sorry for your friend than words can express. From the moment you see that + on the test, it is life changing, and then to have the precious gift gone, it is tragic and I am sorry for her.

OWJ, blessings to your beloved kitty

GoT, good luck tomorrow!

P_M, for the last time stop smoking in the bathroom! ;-)

Seetheworld, congratulations!! =D>

Trish, best wishes to you in your new venture!

Rave: The banter on this board between some posters is an absolute riot!

Rave: Thunderstorms and the loss of electricity for 3 hours one night this week. Wonderful to hear nothing more than rain falling and cracks of thunder. Being the pyromaniac that I am it was a great excuse to light more than the usual load of candles.

seetheworld, congrats on doing so well on the exam!

cd, yes I do feel bad for the visitors who have to endure rain on their vacation, but I remind them that it does keep the island nice and green for them, too.

mms, so sorry to hear about your MIL. I can imagine that your DH has a huge burden on his shoulders right now. I hope time will heal the grief for both of you.

Trish, congrats on being the new boss! You go, girl!

Thank you for all the warm wishes. Yes, it is a stressfull week. It has also been our first experience with losing a parents, so has been quite the learning curve as well.

I forgot another rave though...taking DS to go pick blueberries and marionberries this morning. Thankfully we are not taking the berry bus, lol!

Hope your kitty feels better OWJ.

Tiff: good luck with the dresser. I attempted shabby chic painting with daughter's dresser. After trying three shades of light green (none of which looked good) I gave up. May you have better success!

Mms: thoughts for you and husband.

Rave: Husband recovering nicely from knee surgery. Thanks for those that inquired and sent good wishes.

Rave: My mom and MIL that came to stay this week to help with daughter.

Rant: MIL gave us two parenting books, hmmm . . . a well intentioned hint?

Rave: Gin and tonics or mojitos after work and the gym tonight?

Have a good weekend!

Rant: My husband and son will be gone for the weekend.

Rave: My husband and son will be gone for the weekend.

Rant: I'll be home alone.

Rave: I'll be home alone.

Rant: I'm throwing a few things on the front lawn tomorrow morning for the block sale, despite the fact I swore to never, ever, have another garage sale in my life.

Rave: Hopefully I'll make a few bucks to throw into my Cape Cod vacation fund!

Rant: The violence and crime that's been taking place in my city the last few weeks. What's wrong with everyone?

Rave: I still love my city.

Tomorrow afternoon will be spent on the beach in Canada (ALONE) with a good book!

Have a great weekend, everyone!

I forgot a rant...

Even though I know my DH travels heavily during Sept, Oct, and Nov, I still prefer to hear it from him rather than finding out through the hotel e-mail confirmations. I was sitting at my desk as all 12 hotel confirmations came through. I had to take a deep breath and chant "Rewards travel, rewards travel"

Rant: learned about the deaths of Wildflower and Art Hussey this week. They will be missed.

Rave: Temperature drop from 102 Wednesday to low 80's today.

Rave: unstuck my comuter mouse. The thing was sticking and I cleaned the track ball and mouse pad. Just cleaned the rollers from track bar into whatever. Now the thing works great.

Must be following you around, ncgirl! Also RAVING about drop in temperature. Have windows open now, even though it makes the humidity go up in the house, but so happy to smell real air, hear birds instead of buzz of AC and fans.

Rave: funny responses to peanut butter vs. nutella thread on Europe board.

Rant: health of many relatives and friends seems to be in doubt this month, so many worries.

Rave: Elderly mother's pain surprisingly improved by simple (if uncomfortable) spinal procedure yesterday.

Rant: having blown many Euros on Italy trip in May, it'll be a couple of years before a comparably big trip elsewhere, but Rave: have lots of time to daydream about possibilities. Croatia? Argentina? (but Rant: what will structure of airline industry be at that point?)

Tiff--I'm now the painting expert? Oh no, the world is in trouble now! I painted some kitchen stools black but did not do any kind of distressed finish. I was told by the Benjamin MOore dealer what to do and they came out quite good, if I do say so myself. Email me if you want to know how I did it. [email protected]

SeetheWorld--I KNEW you would pass with flying colors! You go girl!

Margot--enjoy the people training LOL

MMS--My condolences to your family. May the good memories always bring smiles to your faces.

Trish--Good luck w/the new biz! And sorry about your friend's mis...Just be her friend and stay close by (via phone or whatever). Stuff like that really helped us.

And now my updated rant: Took Shayna Kitty to the vet...It seems the feeding tube caused an absess in her neck so they had to remove it. Vet hopes we can force feed her and get rid of the infection through heavy duty antibiotics. The next step would be more surgery, a gastric tube and no guarantees. At what point do I say she's been through enough? I don't know that I'm ready to give up but I don't want to put her through h-ll.
