Rave--Survived shopping the first day of the Nordstrom sale, lol! Yes, we were there at 7am.

Rave-My new Keens...couldn't decide on color so bought both

Rave--Our weeklong vacation at SunRiver starts in just a couple days. Reservations are already made for the spa and for whitewater rafting.

Rave--DS had his football physical and the doctor did not mention his lymph nodes. No news is good news so far!

Margot--Congrats on the new pup!

Jersey, Caph52 and mikemo--Sending best wishes to all of you.

Swalter--How exciting to see the baby!

Bonniebroad--Our DD will be spending 2 weeks with grandparents in CA soon. It is so good to let grandparents/children have that bonding time.

Meetshare--I am afraid to ask about that tenant...just what kind of business? lol!

Statia--Sorry to hear that Statia jr. will be leaving. I did end up buying the VF cd, lol! The kids looks at me like I am nuts.

Tiff--Happy bday and have a great time at your reunion.

Vicky--Crossing fingers and toes for you!

CAHP, my son just had a re-check and the doctor assures him that everything is okay even though he has a node that won't recede.

We spend years taking them to the doctor and caring for their every boo-boo and then it seems like all of a sudden that we must let them deal with medical situations all on their own when sometimes they can't even decide what to eat for breakfast, lol!

Rave: Angels broke their losing streak! Go Halos!

Have nice weekends, everyone. Enjoy your Harry Potter books!

jersey, CAPH52, Mikemo - praying for your loved ones, and for all of you facing difficult times.

Rave: My oldest dd and her fiance got married yesterday. We're all hoping we can do a church wedding here later this year. I really hope I'll be a good mother-in-law...

Rave: Mr. Pickle and I had a lovely inexpensive anniversary celebration - dinner at a small locally owned Italian restaurant, window-shopping, and a movie at the dollar theater.

Rave: We're starting to plan a trip for our 25th anniversary in 2007 - I was thinking of flying to San Francisco. Turns out Mr. Pickle was thinking of visiting Zion and Bryce Canyon. Now we're thinking of a driving trip combining both!

Rave: Looking forward to reading Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince. 17yo dd ordered it, so I told her she could read it first - I'm so noble... I've been rereading the other ones to bring myself up to speed.

Have a wonderful weekend, everyone!

Rant: Being a dork who can't find my own posts on this forum.

Rave: Kind people who top them for me so I can see my own posts on this forum.

sfamylou YOU are NOT a dork! I saw your post and clicked on your name to look for "King Tut" and I didn't see it either. But, of course, now it is here, clear as a bell. Some sort of glitch perhaps?!?

ncgrrl, I think those are two people walking away .... I've *pondered* that one for awhile now ...

Statia, so glad you had a fabulous time with your DSD. She's a lucky girl to have you ...

Happy Birthday, Tiff, and many more happy and healthy!

MMS and Seetheworld, grandmothering is just the BEST!!! Really ... DGD is 7 years old, such a sweet, sweet age! Seetheworld, so glad your son is fine!!!

OWJ, give your kitty a good tummy rub for me! Poor little thing ...

CAPH52, I am sending good thoughts & wishes to you and your daughter. When our children hurt, it's far worse than anything we go through ourselves!

Again, hope everyone has a really fine weekend!

Well, its 2 or 3 am Saturday in fodor time, but still Friday here in Hawaii, and I have a huge rant.

Its pouring rain and I heard a car speeding up our street, skip the stop sign and spin out. You guessed it, he creamed my daughters old, but perfect, 1989 volvo. He was driving an SUV (Mr Invincible!) and had the nerve to try and say that he had actually stopped (yeah, like I can't tell after living in this house 20 years!).

I hate it when people lie to me!!!!

My husband told me to be nice, but I know it will now be three weeks of dealing with insurance, meeting with car people, driving daughter to work, to nightly dance classes and to all her social activities, and listening to her unhappiness. And she's such a good kid to lose her "wheels".

I wish people would respect our neighborhoods, instead of treating them as highways.

Thanks for letting me RANT!!!

Sorry to be late for the FFRR's, I was traveling on business this week and got home late last night.

Margot: I'm thrilled about your new pup!! I remember how Misty brought the joy back into our home after Cinnamon died. We still miss Cinnamon, but Misty really helped to fill the void.

Jersey: Best wishes for your DD.

Crefloors: I can relate to what you're going through. We watched our late dog, Cinnamon, grow old and it was so depressing. Everyone advised us to get a new dog before losing Cinnamon. We waited until after she was gone, but I think you are right to start looking now. The house felt so empty without a dog, and it would have been easier if we already had one.

Tiff: Happy Birthday hugs to you!!

OWJ: You are such a good cat mom, many people would not go to such lengths for a pet. I hope your cat will be OK.

CAPH52: Geez, another illness in the family? You didn't need that!! My mother has suffered w/Lupus for years so I'm glad your daughter doesn't have that. I hope you will learn more about her disease soon.

seetheworld: Glad your son is OK.

OK, now to my stuff:

Rant: As some of you know, my job will be moved next year to a city I dislike. I will withhold the name of that city for fear of offending any posters who live there. Let me state that it's a flat, barren part of the country with no natural beauty whatsoever. Anyway, I spent the better part of last week in that city. I went there with the hope that I would fall in love with that city. I tried, really I did. It has it's good points, such as no traffic, no humidity, nice people, and a job offer for me (for a lot more $$). However, it's hard to get past the fact that it's such an ugly place and so far from the family. I'm so confused.

Rave: I'm home again with DH and my beloved dog, Misty. I really missed them. It's good to be back in Austin where we have trees, grass, and some hills.

Rave: It looks like it'll be a rainy day, but so what?? It will still be a good day.

Rave: I earned many Frequent Flier credits for my business travel this week and last week, so I now have a free ticket on SW Airlines. Maybe I'll use it for a Fodors GTG in some part of the country.

Happy weekend all!!

P_M, good luck with your job situation. Sounds like you've got some tough decisions to make. But I'm a firm believer, despite all that's happened to us lately, that things have a way of working out for the best. Hang in there!

Hi P_M! Thought you might be traveling this week

FF credit is a good thing -- that's what my DH keeps telling me as he heads out the door on his business trips. Now if we could only find some time to actually use them, lol!

Hang in there. A sign will eventually come your way that will help to clear up your confusion.

Speaking of rain...my in-laws on coming up for a BBQ and it looks like the sky is about ready to open up on us

P_M, see you later tonight on the Europe board -- I think there are 3 french men who are doing some traveling

Thank you, seetheworld and CAPH52. I'll look out for the traveling Frenchmen tonight.

After a bit of morning rain, it turned out to be a sunny day in Austin. Misty(my dog) just got a haircut this morning and she can't wait to show it off, so I think I'll take her for a walk. ((&))

P-M---I have no doubt the decision you make regarding your job will be the right one for you! Keep us posted..and if you want a GTG in Atlanta, let me know!

And for those wishing my sick kitty well, thanks. She's so pathetic right now but I have faith she'll be ok.

Sorry this is late - still having phone/computer problems.

But, this is a BIG, BIG RAVE -

My grandmother celebrated her 104th birthday yesterday. She looked beautiful and enjoyed her cake. Didn't really much care for all the other goings-on. When a man told her this week that she would be 104, this Southern lady looked at him and said "You're a liar!"

I hope to have that much spunk - but don't hope to go until 104!

Hugs and kisses to your cat, OWJ. Congrats to Scarlett on the new house - that was fast! Wishing everyone a safe and happy weekend.
