Rant - Stuck in bureaucratic rat maze all day glued to computer doing special project that really could have been done back at office; had to walk to parking garage in pouring rain... in new white jeans
Rave - Sweet, funny co worker friend who makes the day go fast
Rant - same friend whose husband is having heart valve replaced next week at hospital 4 hours away so I can't be there with her.
Rave - baby nephew drs thought was deaf in one ear now got an OK on hearing in both ears!!
Rave Airfare to Phoenix for Labor Day finally went down a tad from almost $500 to $425. I really need to be at a resort and chill out.

RAve, LoveItaly, let's toast that charming pair together! It is good news.

cmcfong Jun 9th, 2006 04:41 PM

Tiff, I hope you and DH have a wonderful time tonight. Enjoy that salty stuff!

beachbum Jun 9th, 2006 04:56 PM

Rave: News worth celebrating. ((d))((d))

iceeu2 Jun 9th, 2006 05:20 PM

Rave: Leaving tomorrow to spend an entire week with 3 of my college buds....We are all over 50 and have kept these friendships alive for over 30 years now!!

Rave: This is the best ever FFR&R in a very long time.

Rave: Faina's thread is sooooooo funny!

Rave: Everyone is glad that I will not be at work next week, but no happier than I am!!

Rave: Full Moon...........Sunday

Rave: Just changed my Hawaii, 2007, reservations to go 2 days earlier than planned!!!!

Rave: Got someone to go and mow the yard at the beach shack!!

P_M Jun 9th, 2006 05:40 PM

Rant: I'm late checking into the R&R's today.

Rant: Saraho's broken bones, that must be awful to have so many broken bones at once. And for a Fodorite to have the use of only one hand, geez, that would be hard to type. God forbid, if I ever broke both hands, I would have to post to this board by typing with my nose. I would look like a woodpecker!! :-O

Blessings to all others facing health or difficult personal issues.

Rave: Fodorites with good health news, that always makes my day!! WOOHOO, YIPPEE YIY YAY!! \:D/

Rant: seetheworld falling up the stairs. I didn't know it was possbile to fall up the stairs, seems like a contradiciton of gravity. :-? Thank God for your big portfolio to cushion the blow. I fell down the stairs once and my big a$$ cushioned that blow. :-))

Rave: A dear friend of mine also got good news about her DH. I think I will email her tonight. It's possible she is reading the R&R's so I hope she will check her mail.

Rant: I heard back about my jury summons. They have narrowed down the time of my jury pool appearance to anytime between July 10 to July 28. I was hoping to go in ASAP and get it over with now. I'm thinking I should wear a suit of armor that day, or maybe a pair of noseglasses and a Bozo wig. Anything to make me look like someone not suitable to serve on a jury. :-(

GoTravel, I will try those dill chips, and if I like them I will never forgive you!!

Happy weekend, all. :-)

seetheworld Jun 9th, 2006 05:58 PM

LOL, PM already did the falling DOWN the stairs bit, thought I'd try something new for a change. ;)

When you appear for jury duty, why don't you do what YOU do best...yodel. :D

Have a nice weekend!

Rave: Glad to hear a bunch of good news for others this week!:)

Rave: School is out next Friday!!

Sad rant: Our 14 year old basset became paralyzed in the hind parts Tues. night...we were in the ER vet until 1am......she is much more alert and is now starting to eat, but what will her quality of life be???? The dr. (ours) says 40-60%....does that mean no more steps to go up and down for her???? Our house is nothing but steps. She is on the screened porch now with us sleeping by the door on a blow up mattress (thanks to DH). We are due to leave the country for 14 days in 11 days...what to do?????? Any thoughts would be appreciated, as DH and I do not agree on the quality of life issue! The pup is being taken out, propped up and being held up by a harness/towel system. To me, that is just not a life......IMHO

Suzie Jun 9th, 2006 06:52 PM

Rave: First day with no school (my kids not me!). No more homework, tests, projects, nagging - that last one was my responsibility.

Rant: Why are so many kids the same age as mine dying in car accidents this week?

gomiki Jun 9th, 2006 06:53 PM

iw: oh dear, I'm sorry about your pup. Tough problem at a bad time. Not that there would be a good time. My dog ended up with the same problem. I worked with it as long as I could. Is there anyone to care for her while you are away? Best to you w/a tough decision.

Suzie Jun 9th, 2006 06:54 PM

Hey LoveItaly a very good friend of mine is going to see Andrea Bocelli this very night as well. So at least we're associated with individuals who are cultured. ;)

Kerry392 Jun 9th, 2006 06:55 PM

Rave: One more week of school (4.5 days)!!! :-)

Rant: Overly sensitive coworkers

Rave: I survived this school year!!
:-) :-)

Rant: I will be getting the same class next year. At least I know what I am getting myself into!

P_M Jun 9th, 2006 07:18 PM

iw, I am so sorry to hear this news. I do have some experience with this.

Back in 2002 we had a 14-year-old dog. She had lived a good and full life, as 14 years is a very long life for a dog. In the final 6 months she started having serious health issues. Among other things she could barely use her hind legs. We had to carry her into the yard and hold her hips so she could go to the bathroom. She would try so hard to stand up, but her legs would collapse and she would look at us and cry or bark.

I've given this advice to other posters before, but it's worth repeating. Listen to your pet, and s/he will tell you when it's time. I know it's hard, but this is not much of a life. Hugs to you.

Fodorite018 Jun 9th, 2006 07:32 PM

Scarlett--I am SOOOO happy for you and the Yankee! I am even having a drink in his honor:)

Saraho Jun 9th, 2006 07:33 PM

ronkala, we have our house on the market here in louisiana. when we sell it, we plan to rent in or around winchester for a year while we decide where to buy a house. i am sure we will take another look at woodstock, too, since we did like it.
maybe the house prices will go down or at least not go up too fast!

i am hoping that my broken bones heal quickly so we can go ahead with our plans on schedule. our oldest son is building a house in apple pie ridge outside of winchester right now.

iw- sorry about your dog. we had a cat with the same problem years ago. i was eight months pregnant at the time, so we didn't feel like we had a choice and sadly had him put to sleep. a very difficult decision. i have seen dogs with wheeled contraptions that seemed quite happy and were able to get around. maybe your dog will recover if you can give it a little more time. good luck.

LoveItaly Jun 9th, 2006 07:42 PM

Well Suzie, don't we wish WE were at the Andrea Bocelli concert that is going on right now, lol! I imagine your friend was as excited as my daughter & SIL.

It is so sad when our little furry friends become ill and elderly.

About falling while going up the stairs..I did that once!! It takes a talented person to work that out ;;) at least that is what I told everyone.

Happy weekend dear Fodor Friends. May your hours be joyous and may there be very few sad times.

seetheworld Jun 9th, 2006 07:56 PM

LOL, yes it surely takes a certain kind of talent to fall UP stairs!
