I never understood why the French were so ticked off when Marie Antoinette said, "Let then eat cake." Sounds good to me!!

:-D

RANT: Baby bunnies are eating my flowers!

Does anybody have a safe idea on how to keep them from eating the heads off my flowers??

AnnMarie_C Jun 11th, 2006 12:14 PM

stw, chilli powder or pepper? I use Texas Gun Powder (it's a spice) to ward off the squirrels without harming them.

re: the sunburn. when you surf, your back gets the most sun (and thus the most burn). My asst's front was still white, but his back was so badly burned that the sunburn was dramatically marked.....you could see where the burn started and ended, in one long clean line down the side of his body. Awful stuff!

OK I found a rant: I went to a wine tasting and saw a bottle of "syrah-viognier blend." I thought it was unusual to have a red & white mix, not to mention those grapes. So I asked the gal behind the table, "Is that a wierd combination?" She said, snootily, "It's a syrah. Do you know what a syrah is?" I said, "YES, I know what it is, but I wanted to know if it was odd tasting to be blended with a viognier." She said, with nose in the air, "Wine is made of different grapes, and viognier is a kind of grape."

If I can pronounce "viognier" correctly, shouldn't she have figured I knew what it was? That pretty much killed my buzz!

Scarlett Jun 11th, 2006 09:18 PM

I don't think I could swallow anything with the name syrah these days =:)

Absolutely if you love cake eat it for breakfast, remember that old Bill Cosby routine when he was taking care of the kids and his wife was angry he gave them cake for breakfast - his answer was why not? it has eggs, milk......

P_M Jun 12th, 2006 08:55 AM

I can't think of anything better for breakfast than chocolate cake. Years ago when my nephew was 5 he caught me eating chocolate cake for breakfast. He gave me quite a lecture on the evils of eating sweets for breakfast. I nodded in agreement and told him how smart he is, but all the while I continued enjoying my chocolaty breakfast!! I was such a bad influence.... :-))

Banana pudding. Perfect breakfast pudding and virtually all the food groups in one dish! (Fruit, dairy, carbs, etc)

starrsville Jun 12th, 2006 09:01 AM

I meant to say "perfect breakfast food"

PM, I would love to exchange my cake for your cheese ball but did you ever notice that when there is a birthday cake around everyone is fixated on it? Way too hard to get those things out the door without anybody noticing. I've tried it. :-D

Scarlett Jun 12th, 2006 09:20 AM

starrsville, chocolate banana bread pudding ((L))

What is the difference in nutritional value in a bowl of fruit loops, count chocula etc or a nice slice of german chocolate cake?

(cake=the Pleasure value is very high :D )

starrsville Jun 12th, 2006 09:26 AM

OMG, Scarlett! Do you have a recipe?!?!? YUM!

I needed a quick dish to take to a potluck this weekend. Saw this recipe in Paula Deen's magazine and it was easy, easy, easy and delish!

Chocolate-Banana dessert

Bascially just layer crushed Oreo cookies, sliced bananas and whipped cream (I used Cool Whip). I did two layers in a trifle dish and let it cool in the fridge for a while.

You can top with toasted pecans or m. cherries - but I just drizzled chocolate syrup on top.

Scarlett Jun 12th, 2006 09:30 AM

Yes, I can get the recipe but it will be later in the day..of course, rb_t will most likely be very upset about it. Expect a recipe backlash :)

starrsville Jun 12th, 2006 09:32 AM

You can always email to me at starrsvillega at yahoo.

But, I bet others would like to see it AND this is FFRR. Maybe the hall monitor won't see it!
