Freaky Friday Rants and Raves 6-9-06
Rant: Forgot to put sun screen on to mow the lawn and got my first sun burn in years.
Rave: Not having to bring my dog to the vet again until next January. When he gets wind that he's going to the vet he acts like a wild horse.

CAPH, fantastic news!!!! Congratulations to you and DH as you exhale and enjoy the weekend.
Jorr, another FFRR starting wtih the topic of your lawn?
OUCH re the sunburn.
Rave: sister visiting here from NY-- a wonderful treat to be with her.
Rave: SF Bay Area weather's mild and lovely. Tonight the East Bay is only 50 F. That may be a "r" for some (too chillly) but i love it.
Happy weekend to all!

Rave: Jorr, thanks to your suggestion I finally got my neighbor/friend to start using sunscreen. I finally bought it for her. She asked me "why?" I told her what you said. She reimbursed me and tells me every day that she is using it. So thank you!!
Rave: CAPH, the good news about your husband, that is fantastic! I am so happy for all of you although I am sorry it took a week to get the results.
Rave: Like CaliNurse, I am so enjoying the mild weather we are having..even here in the Sacramento Valley. It is perfect.
Rave: My stepdaughter and husband are finally going to Maui on Saturday for a week. A trip they have been wanting to take for ages.
Rave: My stepson and wife and a few other family members will be going back to Italy for three weeks in a a week or so and found a villa to rent that is not to far from my step DIL's family village.
Rave: My daughter and SIL will be attending Andrea Bocelli's concert in Sacramento tomorrow night and they will have VIP seats.
Rave/Rant: Life has it ups and downs, and mine certainly has this last week or so but as I write this post I am grateful that most problems and stresses have been eliminated and now are in the the "past" and the future looks beautiful. If a dear friends husband gets a "clean bill of health" then all will be perfect in my world.

Great news, Caph! I am so happy for you and your husband.
LoveItaly, I love Andrea Bocelli!!! How exciting!
Rave: DH dad is spending the weekend with us. He wants to tell us about his new life in person so we are more than curious.
Rave: I had an MRI on Monday and managed to stay in the "machine" for the entire 45 minutes! The last time I had an MRI, about 10 years ago, I tunneled my way out after 20 minutes and a major panic attack!
Rave: To the editors of this board for allowing a discussion on pets to continue. I picked up a lot of useful information from that thread so I am grateful it hasn't been deleted. Thank you!

CAPH---that's great news!!! I am so happy for you and your family!
Rant: Rain, rain, go away!! It's going to rain again all weekend.
Rave/rant: Guess that will force us to get some wedding "stuff" out of the way. I feel like I'm not doing enough and before I know it the big day will be here.
Rave: I lost 2 lbs. this week. Finally, the scale is moving again!!
Ongoing rant: still can't decide on honeymoon destination. We don't know if we want to spend big and do something like Puerto Vallarta or go cheaper and stay somewhere on the east coast. All we want to do is relax, drink, people watch, maybe take in a few sights. Puerto Vallarta is so enticing but, then, again, so is exploring a city that we haven't been to yet. Uugh!
Happy weekend all!

Rave: Warning - Unabashed bragging about children ahead. Avert your eyes if you can't stand the sight of a parent singing the praises of her children.
Okay - My 13 daughter brought home 11 awards from the 7th grade team awards ceremony - 2 gold medals , 1 silver, 2 bronze plus 4 honorable mentions and a citizenship award and a math team participation award. She has worked so hard this year and its wonderful to see the hard work pay off. Though I have to admit that I'm most proud of the citizenship award because it means that she is a nice kid in addition to being a smart one. Being nice will probably get her further in life than just being smart.
And my youngest daughter continues to do very very well in school despite having a pretty darn picky teacher. I thank God that my children are healthy, happy and succeeding.
Rant/Rave - Construction on house is going fairly well. The workers are amazing - they work 12 hour days and weekends and do very high quality work. The only problems are with the design that we paid beaucoup bucks for and turns out to be pretty inaccurate - (ie windows that hit the ceiling or look directly into gutters). Thank God for the framers who have fixed all of the architect's mistakes. And of course the incessant rain has made a mess of my basement and slowed the work down. but it will all be okay in the end.

Rant: The Canadian terrorists. Yikes. Rumor around here is that one of their targets was the Peace Bridge (connects Ft. Erie, Ontario to downtown Buffalo). I go over it all summer long to hit the beach, etc. and my mother goes over it often to play the slots. This REALLY hit close to home.
Rave: It’s my son’s last day of school.
Rant: I can’t believe my only “baby” just finished his freshman year of high school. It went so fast. I can only imagine how quickly the next three will go. If my boy ever gets married, I’m gonna chase him down the aisle and beg him to stay with mommy!!!! (I probably won’t, but I’ll think about it).
Rave: He's going on the school trip to NYC. I'm excited for him.
Rant: My kid goes on more vacations than I do. (That's OK).
Rave: Vacation next month.......a beautiful beach house on Cape Cod. I can’t wait, I really can’t.
Best wishes to all. Have a great weekend everyone!

Greetings all you FFR&R'ers ~
Rave ~ The pet/ct scan of Caph's DH!
Rave ~ Go Carolina Hurricanes!
Rave ~ I am with ya LoveItaly and CaliNurse, sometime a mild day is a joy. It is overcast here and I am thrilled today. (I get so much done when it is cloudy - don't get me wrong, I love a sunny day, too, but sometimes it just zaps my energy.!)
Rave ~ I figured out this week how to 'import' digital pictures to my computer and then, as if that were not enough, I was able to send them in an email too. Quite the triumphant moment for self. (ha)
Sending a hug to all who are in need. LoveItaly, I hope your dear friend's husband gets good news too.

Ethel: Congrats on 2 more pounds.
Bennnie: Congrats to your kids!
Otto: My sympathies.
Rave: A great vacation to Portland. And great advice from Fodorites on where to stay and where to eat.
Rant: Back to work. I feel like hiding from the piles on my desk.
Rave: Dinner with good friends tonight.

Caph52--That's wonderful news!
Ethel--Wow, how many pounds total is that? You are an inspiration--I fear I've let 5 pounds creep back on in the past month but am scared to get on the scale
A good week here in western Nebraska--we even got a little rain yesterday so things aren't quite so parched. The humidity this morning is 53%--a little different from our usual 20%. UGH.
Rave: Air conditioning!!!!
Major rave: World Cup soccer starts today. My 17 year old soccer playing son is positively giddy with joy.
No rants today~a happy weekend to all my Fodorite friends.

MAJOR Rave: After struggling with some health issues the last several months, things are finally looking up. What a wonderful DH I have as well as great family & friends! And I'm finally back to work after being off for over a month due to my health. Love my job and my employer was WONDERFUL through it all.
Rave: Enjoyed the great weather here in NW WI while being "stuck" at home.
Rave: Even though I didn't feel like posting, I read FFR & R every Friday. Helped remind me that even when you think you have it so bad someone else is suffering even more. Plus reading all the raves helped lift the spirts as well.
No rants at all - life is good!

RAVE: Caph and PamT's news - congrats for both of you and your families, may it only be wonderful healthy news from now on -
RAVE: Back from vaca with husband to Stockholm, Denmark and Iceland: first time without the kids on a trip to Europe....missed having them with us but in many ways it sure was delightful - getting used to it as empty nesters!
RANTS: Mild rant, can't wait for this lousy, rainy, raw weather in Massachusetts to end...other than that, can't rant about anything after some of the 'good health' raves listed here today !

Rave: We are taking our trailer out for the 1st time since last summer to camp at the beach!!
Rave: Exactly one month until Paris!!
Happy Friday to all!
