jorr, my assistant went surfing a couple of weeks ago with no sunscreen. he was so badly burned on his back that when he lifted his shirt and turned to the side, he looked like a Frosted Mini Wheat!!

no rants this week, just one huge Rave: One award is great, two are even better. Reminders that so many things would not have been possible if I continued to let my career languish at CB.

JAGIRL Jun 9th, 2006 08:22 AM

A frosted mini wheat :)) I've never heard that description of a sun burnt person before! That's so funny!!!
Not the burn of course...that's most definitely not funny. ouch. X-(

Faina,

Had I opted to continue health insurance via COBRA when I quit working five years ago the quoted cost was a little more than $300/month. At the time I was 38 years old with no medical ailments or history.

Rave: Lay's Dill Pickle Potato Chips!

My gawd someone's a genius!

Congrats Caph and Pam!

FainaAgain Jun 9th, 2006 10:05 AM

AnnMarie, this is what I was afraid to hear :(

Gotta kick him off to Kaiser, down to $200 or so :)

RAVE - The weather is beautiful in KC, my tomato plants are doing great, I have 2 job interview's in a couple of weeks (looking to change industry )
and I'm off work today!!! Yeah! Oh yeah, and I just go my Zumba dvd's in the mail. :)

RANT - People in line at the drive thru bank that think they can balance their check book, ignore that people are in line behind them, and take 30 minutes doing who knows what before they notice the cylinder was already sent back to them. Don't they know its a beautiful day and I need to get home to my garden. Geez!

I hope everyone has a great weekend!!

Saraho Jun 9th, 2006 10:53 AM

major rant- had to miss visit with my mother, daughter and granddaughter

rave- ronkala- virginia does sound lovely now. we're hoping to move not far from you, maybe by this fall!

I've never contributed to this but no time like the present...

Rant: My six-year-old threw up all night long and is missing "kindergarten graduation" today.

Rave: My two-year-old isn't throwing up....yet.

ElendilPickle Jun 9th, 2006 11:13 AM

CAPH and Pam, that's wonderful news!

JAGIRL Jun 9th, 2006 12:28 PM

Rave : Faina's Friday Fun Thread! Much fun indeed! :))
Still no rants...so that's another rave! :)

seetheworld Jun 9th, 2006 12:32 PM

Rave: CAPH's and PamT's news!

Rant: Illness in our Fodor's community. Sending Good thoughts to those who are awaiting test results. Saraho, wishing you a speedy recovery -- ouch! Little children who puke -- poor things. :(

Rant: Rejection.

Rave: Great interview yesterday. Hoping for a second.

Rant: Fell "UP" the stairs after the interview, on the way out of the building. Thankfully no one saw me. Thankfully my Portfolio is huge -- saved my face/jaw from injury. My shoulder, arm, hip and left leg were not so lucky. Every move I make hurts. I must learn to slow down!

I'm not sure if this is a Rant or a Rave, just yet. The sale of my husband's company has been completed. I'm not happy with the dollar number that needs to be placed in escrow for the next two years. But it's standard practice, or so I am told. My husband is such a calm man.

Rave: Our son is a great financial advisor, lol.

Rave: Chilling tomorrow -- going to grab some theater tickets and dinner in Manhattan.

Rave: Theater tickets to Billy Elliot in London!

Have a safe and happy weekend, everyone : I hope the weather is sunny! ((#))

Scarlett Jun 9th, 2006 12:34 PM

Rave: no bad news this week.
Rave: baby boy has informed us that he is not working the entire month of August. He still plans on leaving Japan at the end of December.
Rave: my anniversary this year will probably be spent in Buenos Aires...Anniversary Tango, anyone? ((F))
Rave: my good friends *you know who you are((L))

seetheworld Jun 9th, 2006 12:38 PM

Rave: Scarlett has no bad news this week! :)

Someone please take this bag of chips away from me!

Tiff Jun 9th, 2006 12:48 PM

LOL, GoT

LoveItaly Jun 9th, 2006 12:49 PM

GoTravel..just send that bag of chips to me, LOL. Chips flavored with dill pickles, sigh, wonder if we have any here.

To all of you who have soreness and injured bodies, get well soon. Every once in awhile I go through a period of stumbling around too, not fun!!

kureiff Jun 9th, 2006 12:54 PM

I have never tried those chips, but now I want to!

I had my first fried dill pickle a couple of weeks ago. Amazing! Now I want them all the time. :)

seetheworld Jun 9th, 2006 12:56 PM

Chips sound so good. Let's add some chocolate and a diet coke and call it an evening. :)

seetheworld Jun 9th, 2006 12:59 PM

Just one more RANT: Students who bring knives to school. Students who draw graphic pictures of guns and the people they shoot. And only show remorse because a call goes home to mom. Administrators who seem shocked. I'm glad this happened today -- now there is something concrete to work with before something catastrophic occurs.

Rave:Our big bike ride to raise money for the Civic Center had nearly perfect weather! We ended up raising almost $15k (still working on the final tally). Check it out, bike fans, and come join us next year!

Rant: Sad news posted here.
Rave: So many posters with no rants.
Rave: Otto, your expression "it rained so hard the sky must have had something to say" was a poetic beautiful tribute to your grandfather.
Rave: My 10 year old rescue dog got certified as a therapy dog last night AND so did our latest rescue, a two year old . The 10 year old ( a little mix) thought it was Westminster and pranced through the test like a champion.
Rave: It is a beautiful day in North Carolina (keep on, keepin' on, CANES!)
