Note: for those who note such things, note full moon and Mercury in retrograde. I only note it for amusement, since the combination can be blamed in fun and vaguely for whatever might be "looney," stymied, or just going wrong in your life.

Rant: Although mikemo and I don't agree sometimes, on this one - medical bad news for those we care about -- we share the same sad rant: one cousin failing after 10 yr. struggle; another just beginning the battle, already facing some setbacks. Uncomfortable irony: hate aging process, but the alternative's much worse.

Rant: The Terry circus -- she's getting the worst of both and not in privacy. A side comment, the origin of her misery -- bulimia -- seems utterly forgotten.

RAVE: Birds, blooms, SPRING PEEPERS -- peeppeep peeppeep peeppeep!!! Even though it's cloudy today, the cherries, daffodils, forsythia, in purples, whites, yellows are coming out, almost on cue.

Rave and wish: To those for whom this is a holy weekend, may it bring the humility and renewal it is supposed to. Cassandra has become a bit of a respectful pagan pantheistic reverent agnostic, but the special "Tenebrae" Good Friday service still can evoke a profound spiritual moment, for the drama, symbolism, and music.

Happy Easter!

Rave: OWJ and her "secret". Best of luck!

Rant: Rainy, March weather in IL. Yuck! So sick of wind, cold, and clouds.

Rave: Going to Chicago on Tuesday with DS's art class--Chicago Art Inst.

Rant: BIL fighting brain tumor. Coworkers losing loved ones this week.

Rave: Seeing Grand Canyon this summer! After fretting over vacation destination for 12 months, we've finally agreed on Arizona. Want to fly from Chicago or Indy or St. Louis to Phoenix--any advice on what a good price would be for airline tickets??? I fear that I passed up good rates and prices are heading upward.

Rave: Spending Easter with my family.

Rave: Students who graduate from private universities and who are STILL honest and happy people. Mine included!

Rant: To those who think otherwise - get real.

Rant: The increase in tuition overall. Not just a private school phenonmenon. Everyone should complain.

Rant: The book publishers who yearly take advantage of students. Or is that just a private school issue - I think NOT!

Rave: Buy used - Buy online!

Rant: Mikemo, I have always been curious...what does SO stand for? I'm sorry for SO's news.

Rave: OWJ, I'll say a prayers for you.

Ryan, I've been thinking and praying for you.

Scarlett, your heart must be filled

Wishing everyone a peaceful weekend. And for those who celebrate Easter, have a joyful holiday!

RAVE: It's almost Easter... I wish many blessings and much joy for all in Fodorville!

RANT/RAVE: Had to have a huge molar extracted yesterday... BUT so glad it's gone, and what a great oral surgeon I had (AND he looked like Kevin Spacey and Nicholas Cage all rolled into one! ) Was anyone else told to give up vigorous exercise and alcohol for A WHOLE WEEK after surgery? Oh, well, whatever works...

RAVE: Three ACC teams still in the NCAA tournament! Go Tar Heels, Go Wolf Pack, Go Blue Devils (well, until they play one of the other two, that is!)

RAVE: Full nine months on fitness program now... still at 39 lbs. off, and still enthused, think I'm getting ready to drop again (please!). Good luck to those of you who are doing the same!

OWJ, best wishes to you and yours!

Everyone, have a lovely weekend!

To clarify, Mikemo, that rant is for your SO's news, not because I don't know what SO is. Peace.

rave- Just spent a great week with my daughter in Chicago, Boston and NYC.

Rant- we had cold weather and even snow in all three cities! Although many individuals were really nice, we got very tired of rude/indifferent service.
Got really itchy skin from hotel soap.

Rave: Now I'm in Portland Oregon for 11 days. Get to spend time with best friend, MIL and oldest daughter.

Rant: After everyone going on about Oregon's great spring weather, it is now cold and raining!

Rave: Trees and flowers look beautiful!

Rave/mini-rant: The sweet kitty who insists on walking between me and the computer monitor, who's tail is now resting on half the keyboard.

Rave: Looking forward to celebrating Easter with my family on Sunday. Inspired by Byrd to bake some sugar cookies & ice them for dessert!

seetheworld: SO = Significant Other? It took me awhile to figure it out too; not sure if it's right or not.

Mikemo: Please make sure your SO's friend sees a gynecologic oncologist if it is ovarian cancer. They are sometimes hard to find, depending on where you live, but can be extremely important to longevity of survival rate.

One more Rave: Cassandra's post. I have reread it several times and Thanks. You have encompassed the spirit of Easter for all in your self-description.

And seetheworld, private schools are great, and I wouldn't be working for one if I didn't think so. There is no need to be defensive. It isn't the private school that gets denigrated and no one put those private school students down here either. We have merely suggested that they are not the be-all and only. It just isn't an agenda where you always get what you pay for. It's much more a- "you get what you KNOW you want and work towards yourself to earn", as well. To excel does not mean to put anyone else "down" in the process. But labeling does make the product here. It just doesn't.

Peace and hopefully the glass will be half full or more for everyone- even those who face disease. For them, I hope that life brings some GOOD days to enjoy during the battle.

That's "labeling does NOT make the product." And some of us who did not have the possible advantage or opportunity to go to school when we were young at all, or lived in places without stuctures for higher education that were affordable- it doesn't follow that the result is "useless" or bad people either. Some of the brains most like diamonds and crystals I know-attached to the kindness people, have never spent a day in college.

Rave: Beautiful weather. After rain and rain and MORE rain, we deserve it!

Rant: Two weeks of bad news on my sister's cancer-- which is rearing its ugly head again. Her doctors at MSKCC are very disappointed. We were devastated.

Rave: Her doctors in Philadelphia don't give up (she's back on chemo!), and besides there are no solid tumors on the scans-- just elevated markers. Whatever it is, it's microscopic (and there's an outside chance it's NOT cancer!) and it can-- no, WILL-- be beaten into oblivion, dammit!! Our spirits are higher because we can still fight this.

Reminder: Colorectal cancer is preventable by periodic screening. If caught early, it's perfectly treatable (my sis' tumor was probably around for 10 years!!). And please, PLEASE-- contribute to charities sponsoring research, treatment and support for life-threatening illness (cancer, AIDS, heart disease, diabetes, etc.).

Rant: Government officials trying to exploit human suffering cynically-- in any way, shape or form.

Rave: Hospice care and the gentle, wonderful people who devote their skill and love to easing the terminally ill into the next stage. These selfless people are indeed angels on earth. They need our support and admiration, not politicians calling them barbarians and murderers!

Everyone try to have a great weekend, in any case. Lovers, family and friends will see us through all this insanity!!

Rant: Couldn't jog my usual stretches on the beach this morning, as the Naples Beach has more people on it than I think I've ever seen in my life -- couldn't jog through them if I tried. Already in the 80's again today.
And I stood in line at Starbuck's nearly 15 minutes to get my Venti Iced Coffee. That's the price you pay when you live in tourism heaven.

Rave: Having bounced on and off the fence for several months now about going to New York for the month of June, I've finally bitten the bullet and booked a compromise. I'm now directing a show during that time, which makes it hard to stay away for almost the full run. I have a major decorating job with my best clients which will start in June. And the family health issues hang over my head. But booked flights for Lee and I (Ft. Myers to Laguardia) on American, round trip for $178 each. Booked an apartment through NYCHabitat for 8 nights, June 1 to June 9. And already have my tickets to Spamalot, The Light in the Piazza, AtlarBoyz, and Dame Edna. Will wait for specials to fill out the week. Boy, do I need a vacation!

Rant: Airline tickets. Normally we would have flown non-stop out of Ft. Lauderdale, but the prices jumped this week (thanks to oil?) from $125 to $190 for the flights I wanted. Our Ft. Myers flight goes to Miami where we change. This is funny. If we took the same flights we're taking out of Miami and drove down there, they would have cost us over $200 each. In other words, they fly us between Ft. Myers and Miami for free, plus take extra off the Miami to LGA fare. Does that make sense?

RAVE: My sister cut the last few days off of her 3 month long Thailand trip to fly home before going back to school! I wouldn't have seen her until June if she hadn't...YAY!!!

RANT: DH is working too much-about 90 hours a week and there doesn't seem to be help for it right now. ITs making him more than miserable and not doing much for everyone else, either.
