April Feb 17th, 2006 10:52 AM

Well I'm not really happy about living in the cold, CaliNurse! Granted, our 34°F. (west coast of Canada) isn't the same as Jorr's -21°, but it's too cold for me.

Ah, I think I finally got the quail thing. :">

GoTravel Feb 17th, 2006 11:01 AM

Thank you all for the well wishes. My stepfather is the only father I've known as an adult and I think of him as my father.

JJ5 Feb 17th, 2006 11:15 AM

seetheworld Feb 17th, 2006 11:42 AM

HEY! What's this about penguins having sex? Those lucky son-of-a-guns, lol ;)

And Jorr, thanks for nothing! :S- The winds are starting to howl and the temperatures are going to be frigid tonight!!! To think, just a week ago, we had nearly 2 feet of snow -- it's almost all gone, that's how warm it has been. We're in for it!

Rave: Scarlett's daughter's good news, GoT's stepfather's news, Bennie's recovery from surgery, and PM's booboo is better. :D

I'm not sure if this is a Rant or Rave, lol After 7 years of studying German, I've decided to learn Spanish. =-o

bennie Feb 17th, 2006 02:31 PM

mcheryl - I am so sorry for your losses. I can't image losing two family members in one year. God Bless You.

Ani - Congratulations - how exciting.

Statia Feb 17th, 2006 03:06 PM

I just had to add late evening good wishes to GoTravel and Ani. (Or at least late evening in my part of the world).

Congrats to you, Ani! Here's to another one on the way. :)

GoTravel, I was very glad to hear of your good news. I also have a step-dad who is like my own, since I lost my own father at a very young age. Some men in our lives can be very wonderful, no matter what the relation. I hope he recovers with flying colors....and I'm sure he will. :)

P_M Feb 17th, 2006 03:24 PM

Ani, I saw the pics of Riley in your vacation photos. If the second one is half as cute, then he/she'll be a real winner!! :-)

mcheryl, my heart goes out to you. ((l))

cmcfong Feb 17th, 2006 04:59 PM

Oh, mcheryl, how hard that must be. You are in my prayers.

LoveItaly Feb 17th, 2006 05:36 PM

Mycheryl, I just saw your post and I got a cold chill. I am so sorry, but saying "sorry" will never take away your loss and your pain dear one. There are no words that will. Having a military family and having deaths and serious injuries all I know what to say is that you, your dear son, and all of your family are in my prayers. I hope that you have had loved ones around you that have been supported and have helped you through this terrible loss. Blessings to you.

klr6773 Feb 17th, 2006 07:41 PM

Scarlett,
BF saw something on TV about greenies the day before, and he was upset by whatever it was he saw.We had all "doggy junk food" packed in a bag to throw away-after we got home from a quick run to Winco...guess when Frankie got to the bag??(The one time we don't shut that door, I might add!) thanks for the link, I'll read it myself now.

How about this wind today?? Brutal!

CAPH52 Feb 17th, 2006 08:59 PM

P_M, glad you've recovered from your injuries!

Scarlett, so glad your daughter's results were good!

Have a great trip, Bonnie! And eat some of that great food for me too!

I'm happy to hear things went so well for your stepfather, GT!

I'm really pleased to hear your good report on your trip to NOLA, Byrd. We have such fond memories of our trip there in '01.

So glad to hear your father's doing well, wagonwheel2.

Sounds like a rough week at work, stw. As I've told you before, you have my admiration. I know how tough it can be working with "normal" students. It takes a special breed (who are earning their place in heaven!) to do what you're doing.

Hope your family enjoys the theater. But I know that, regardless of the quality of the play, you'll enjoy spending the evening together.

Congratulations, Ani! There can be no better news in the world than that of an impending arrival!

mcsheryl, my heart breaks for you. You sound like a very strong, brave person.

Rant: I waited until this evening to post 'cause I hoped we'd have some news. No call from the dr. I'm guessing we won't hear anything until Tuesday.

Rave: It's been three weeks since my husband's last chemo. I'm beginning to be able to see a difference. His appetite is definitely better. And I think he's looking better, less drawn.

Rave: We mailed our taxes nearly two weeks ago. I finished the FAFSA and Profile yesterday! Don't think I finished them until March or April last year. What a load off my mind!

Rant: Long story short: Our daughter participated in a bone marrow drive at school in December. On Wednesday we received a letter from our insurance saying they'd been billed $2,919 which they wouldn't cover! I called them, they said we were liable for the charges. After many calls, most long distance, finally found out that the school has a fund to cover the costs. A very poorly handled situation on the part of the school!

Rant: The situation with the Olympic snow boarder who lost Gold. Seems to have been her own fault and that's a real shame. But what a tough lesson for a 20 year old to have to learn in front of the whole world. We all make mistakes at that age. But fortunately, for most of us, it's not so public!

Rave: Down a pound!

Rant: Have to lose at least 10 more before late April with a trip to Ireland in between! At my age, that's a real challenge!

Rave: A three day weekend!

Have a great weekend everyone!
