MASSIVE RAVE!!: My stepfather had his surgery yesterday and they were able to do it lapriscopically! They removed the tumor from his kidney and the cancer had not spread anywhere else in his body!!! The doctors didn't have to remove any part of his kidney other than the tumor! Massive Rave!

Another Massive Rave: Scarlett's daughter!

Rave: My silly kitties that make me laugh.

Rave: It is supposed to be almost 75 today. It broke the 70 mark yesterday.

Rant: Freezing rain/snow Sunday. Go figure.

Ann Marie, I did hear Cheney's Got A Gun and it is hysterical!

divingaggie Feb 17th, 2006 05:11 AM

Eeva, our students are going crazy, too!

Rave: I finally get to use a jacket this winter! Yea! Lovin' the cold weather, even it will only last a couple of days.

Rant: I just ate a whole pound of Godiva chocolates...grrr...and I realized that a pound of chocolate isn't the same as a pound of veggies! LOL.

Rave: My picky 3 year old actually ate asparagus last night!!!

Rant: DH is gone again...this time for three long weeks. :-(

Should be a good cold weekend watching the Olympics. Have a great one!

ethel Feb 17th, 2006 05:13 AM

Rave: Planning a little b'day surprise for my fiance (hopefully, he won't choose today to visit the board).
Rave: Long holiday weekend! Woo hoo!

Rant: 35 degrees, pouring rain and windy right now. In the teens by tonight with 60 mph winds. 20 below wind chill by tonight. Yikes! Lots of liquor and sweatshirts on the horizon tonight.

Huge rant: Gained 1.5 lbs this week. I'm so depressed but it's my own stinkin' fault. Why does chocolate and cheese have to taste so good!

Scarlett--that's great news!!!

I hope that whippet gets found. That's such a sad story.

ethel Feb 17th, 2006 05:14 AM

GoT--I'm so happy for your and your family. That's great!

ethel Feb 17th, 2006 05:15 AM

Oops, meant YOU and your family.

ronkala Feb 17th, 2006 05:17 AM

raves
I believe it was 2004 that Dubya refered to Cheney as being "a straight shooter..."

New wood flooring will be finished tomorrow. Looks great. The cat will have a better time swatting her toy mouse around.

Fodorite018 Feb 17th, 2006 05:38 AM

Rave--It is Friday!

Rant--No snow with the cold temps:(

Great news Scarlett and GoT!!!

I agree the kids need a break. I did my usual volunteering yesterday at a school and I think all the kids had spring fever already.

otto Feb 17th, 2006 06:18 AM

rave: it's friday!

rave: moving on this 3 day weekend! moving for first time to bf's nicer, (albeit smaller)more convenient apartment, and splitting the rent with bf! :S-

rave: my mom/stepfather are going on a ski trip to colorado! jealous!

rave: great valentines day all around. got a call from my dad, always my valentine. :-)

rave: we still have a sense of humor! (some of us at least) here were some of my favorites from this week..

Dick Cheney's top 10 excuses for shooting fellow hunter Harry
Whittington on Saturday:
10. Sick and tired of Whittington's "Hey, I'm having a heart attack" jokes

9. Pushed over edge by Dixie Chicks and Streisand blasting on pick-up
truck stereo

8. Ongoing dispute over whether it's acceptable to torture quail
before shooting them

7. Thought he saw Michael Moore on other side of tree line

6. Bombed out of his gourd on Wild Turkey and Lone Star Beer

5. Companion's ill-advised decision to wear Moveon.org sweatshirt

4. Was trying to impress Jodie Foster

3. Whittington's repeated ribbing that Bush is actually the "real
president"

2. Targeting scope on gun was made by Halliburton

And the number one excuse given by Dick Cheney for almost blowing away
hunting companion Harry Whittington…
1. Because he's a wartime vice president, damn it!

Rave: It's Friday!

Jorr - too funny about the cowboys & penguins! I don't have off Monday either! :((

Rant: Last Sunday's snowstorm cancelled my trip to Calgary. I called Continental before going to the airport and was told my flight was still "on time", got to the airport to find out it was "closed" then got to stand in a 3 hour line to find out what my options were. Best they could do was fly me out Monday - no good. Would've missed half my training program. Then had to call DH to come back and get me! Not fun.

Rave: Cancelled trip was divine intervention, as this week in the office turned out busy with demanding clients.

Rave: I'm organizing a "Go Red for Women" fund raiser for the American Heart Association at my women's networking group next month. It should be a fun event! ((L))

Rant: Old friends who can't make the effort to maintain their side of the relationship. I hate to relegate people to "christmas card only" status, but I refuse to be the one who initiates every contact or conversation.

Rave: Low key weekend without much to do. DH is excited to install new tiffany style billiard lamp over our pool table. (his V-day/anniversary present from me.)

Have a great weekend everyone! Trish

wagonwheel2 Feb 17th, 2006 06:32 AM

Rave: Dad home from hospital and doing great !
Rave: Snow is melting today.
Rant: COLD week-end ahead.
Rave: Leaving tomorrow for overnight get-a-way to beautiful bed and breakfast. We are planning on not leaving the room from check in to check out :)
Rave: Saved up to eat the chocolates and chanpagne for this week-end.

Happy week-end to all.

Sunshinesue Feb 17th, 2006 06:38 AM

RAVE: My quail-hunting 20 year old son, who, upon being told about the Chaney accident, shook his head incredously and said, "You NEVER shoot unless you know where everybody is." Taught well by his father and grandfather.

Rant: that the hunting accident happened at all

AuntAnnie Feb 17th, 2006 06:58 AM

Rave: Scarlett's good news. There is no worry greater than a sick child.

Rant: It is **#!@!**!! cold here!!

Rave: My college daughter is coming home for the weekend!

Rave: My staunch Republican Dad who is also a hunter blasted the Veep. I never thought I would see the day he disparaged a member of the party!!

jorr Feb 17th, 2006 07:08 AM

bonnie, Sorry about this! I woke up this morning to 21 below zero with a 46 below zero wind chill. I couln't believe it. Beware east coast. Its comming your way, but I doubt it will end up as cold as here.

Sunshinesue Feb 17th, 2006 07:15 AM

AuntAnnie, My son is also a staunch Republican! (Again, taught well by his father and grandfather! LOL!)

AnnMarie_C Feb 17th, 2006 07:26 AM

GoT, great news about your stepfather! I am so happy for you and your family.

bennie Feb 17th, 2006 07:59 AM

Rant: At home recovering from gallbladder surgery. Yuck but at least the pain is over. Thought I had the stomache flu but guess that was wrong. But if you had to have surgery, this one isn't so bad.

Rave: Don't feel bad for me - I'm just paying for years of eating fried clams and lobster with lots of butter. That's the problem with living on the New England coast - too much really good but really fatty foods.

Rave: Local hospital that really took very good care of me - thanks to the emergency room nurses and docs and thanks to the day surgery staff.

Rave: I'll be home now when the kids and DH are on vacation.

Rave: DH and I will be celebrating our 19th anniversary this weekend by seeing Les Miserable, my all time favorite show and staying overnight in Boston. It will definately be a far quieter celebration than planned but still it will be nice. And as a bonus we et to hear my DD's violin teacher play in the orchestra of Les Miz.

Rave: Friends who make you laugh too hard when you have stitches.

I'm glad Scarlett's DD is okay and P_M is recovering.

Eeva - have a great time in NY - I'm totally jealous.

cmcfong Feb 17th, 2006 08:24 AM

Rave: Scarlett and GoT get good news!
Rave:WOOOWOOO, Wagonwheel!
Rave: It is 72 degrees here in the foothills of North Carolina, the Peggy Clarke, flowering apricot, is in full bloom and smells fabulous
Rant: I miss Tiff. When does she come back from Italia? And when do we see the trip report?
Rave: Adopting shelter dogs and saving lives.

Little_Man Feb 17th, 2006 08:47 AM

Rave: good health news from Gotravel and Scarlett!

Rave: Brokeback Mountain. I finally saw it, and thought it was amazingly good. My husband bravely saw it, too, and was not quite as moved, lol!

Rave: I used to be sad that Bush was reelected, but now I'm grateful for the entertainment the gang that can never shoot straight has provided in the past year.

Rachel Feb 17th, 2006 09:09 AM

Great to hear good health news of Scarlett, GoT, WW2 and Bennie.

Otto: Too funny

Rant: dear pups got out of small dog run into muddy backyard. By the time i got them inside, both needed massive baths; then younger pup (whom we frequntly refer to as "the terrorist", who played outside instead of going to the bathroom, used our bed as his toilet. He's lucky to be with us. managed to shower, bathe dogs, get quilts to dry cleaner, change sheets, and only be five minutes late for work. I'm laughing about it all now, but it was a bad start to a friday.

Rave: picking up a new (used) car tonight! Now we don't have to choose between taking luggage or the kids.

Have a good weekend all.

jorr Feb 17th, 2006 09:37 AM
