Rave: Finished weeks-long work project a few hours ago. :S-

Rave: That movie about cowboys who go to Antarctica to herd gay marching penguins who have sex. =-o

Rave: Warm, sunny weather all week.

Rave: We saw the Pink Panther last weekend, it is a HOOT!! I thought DH would pass out from laughter. I enjoyed the scenery in Paris too.

Rave: All of my cuts and bruises have healed from my crash through the doggie-gate last week. :-)

Rave: The scenery at the Olympics--magnificent!! I love the winter games.

Rave: DH and I had a very nice Valentine's Day and he gave me lots of chocolate-covered strawberries. ;-)

Rave: 3 day weekend!! My office is closed Monday for President's Day.

Hi Jorr!

Rant: We're gonna have a big wind storm tonight and tomorrow. 40-50 mph winds with gusts 60-70 mph!!! Batton down the hatches! This will all be followed by freezing temps and lake effect snow.

That's what I get for bragging about not having winter weather in the "blizzard" post.

Rave: Watching my son play soccer with his team.

Rant: My son kicks a soccer ball around the house....constantly!!!!!!!

Rave: My son. Just because.

Rant: I still don't have any vacation plans.

Rave: I sold a few items on e-bay. The $$$ will go in my vacation account. There's always hope for a summer vacation.

Rant: My alarm clock will be going off in 6 1/2 hrs. and I'm still up and goofing around on my computer.

Rave: 3 day weekend!

Rave: My husband gave me a pound of sponge candy on V-Day.

Rant: Two days later and I've managed to wolf down the entire pound. I ate it for breakfast, lunch, and dinner.

Rave: Daughters CATscan shows she actually does have a Brain!! and nothing else :D

NotReallyARant: We have had such great weather here in Portland but it is getting very cold and windy, big wind, like Buffalo girls wind :O and maybe a snow flake.

Rant/Rave: We thought pup was sick/pup is fine.((&))

Rant: That a beautiful dog was able to escape its crate and be lost at JFK

PM, thanks for telling me about "President's Day". One of three totally worthless "Holidays"! Yet another day that the rest of us work, and do not recieve services such as mail delivery which the check mailed to me will have to wait another day and the bank will take another day to process!

Rave: Good news about Scarlett's little girl! :-)

Rave: Leaving for New England tomorrow (get to eat lobster & clams!), with an overnight in Maryland, to eat wonderful *crab stuff.* Then on to a whole week with darling granddaughter! :-d YES!!!

Rave: UNC & NC State both won their games this week!!! Way to go, 'Heels and Wolf Pack!!!

Rave: P_M has recovered from crashing! :-)

Jorr, stop telling us about your COLD weather! Really, I am SO JEALOUS! :-( My husband says I should go live in Alaska ... :-)

Rant: Packing!!! Does anyone else agonize (to a ridiculous degree) over exactly what to take? I know IT DOESN'T MATTER .... but I agonize everytime! :-(

Taxes are half done. Waiting for document pertaining to sale on condo in NJ from lawyer. Looks like my move for work to WA may be able to get me out of paying tax on profit, as I only owned condo 1 1/2 yrs. My fingers are crossed, as I really can't afford to pay..banking on a refund.

Even though I'm not supposed to be mad about gas prices according to some on last weeks FFRR, it went down to 1.94 today...and I am happy!

It's been a decent weather week here,and I am thrilled that I am no longer in Jersey dealing with that snow they got!

Rant: My wonder dog, Friankie, managed to find "greenies" we had in the laundry room. Dragged bag under my bed and ate half the bag. Apparently,according to BF, I should be glad that it wasn't me walking him today!

klr- Don't give your pup greenies! There have been quite a few deaths caused by pups eating those things, they don't dissolve and or they get stuck inside .. I read about it this week in the paper. If I can find it online, I will post it. But Beware of Greenies!!

Rant: A dark floaty thing in his eye is bothering him.

Rant/rave: Bitterly cold wind but trees are blooming anyway.

RAVE: Scarlett's news. Congratulations on the results for your daughter!
RAVE: that there's someone else who RANTS about packing. THANKS, BonnieB!! Yup, me too--doesn't matter if it's for a day or a month--it's always overwhelming. How I admire foks who can jsut toss some stuff in a bag and be done with it.
Jorr, April, and BuffaloGirl: BRRRRR !! How do you survive that cold weather with a smile? (Do I sound wimpy or what?)
BTW, Jorr, was it the penguins or the cowboys--or all- who have sex?
Anxious RANT: one of my darling doggies, previously continent inside, in the last few weeks has started leaving calling-card puddles everywhere. We got him from the Humane Society so not quite sure how old--maybe 8 yrs? I'm worried about him. His thyroid has been checked. Will read up on possible reasons..and protect the hardwood floors meanwhile.

RANT: Predicted high of -6 for Friday. Predicted wind chill as low as -50 for Saturday. Blecch.

RAVE: Have plane and train tickets and hotel reservations in hand. 40 days to go!

RANT: My tickets are on NWA.

RAVE: Maybe if there's a strike it will do those workers some good. And maybe it will hit AFTER I arrive in Europe. ("Sorry, boss, there's just no way I can get home this week with the strike and all...")

Rave: Vacation begins @2:15 today--not a moment too soon. We haven't had any snow days and it pretty obvious the kids need a break (teachers too.

Rant: I am in a "funk" Don't know why or how to get out of it. Maybe vacation will help.

Rave: Scarlett's daughter's brain. I went through the same thing a few years ago and constantly joked about the "proof" that daughters brain existed rather than focusing on the other possibilities. Although she still makes me wonder sometimes.

Rave: Heading to NYC with DD and her friend for a couple of days.

Rant: That weather that others are ranting about is heading to Mass. later today.

Rave: Spur-of-the-moment trip to New Orleans last weekend, the first since Katrina.

In spite of lingering signs of the storm, the French Quarter is (almost) the same.

Also the same: the Royal Sonesta and Galatoire's!

We have been going to NO for years and years, and have watched many changes. The set-backs from the storm were staggering, but the wonderful city will be back--and so will we!

Rave: Good news from Scarlett and her daughter.

Rave: Bonnie's trip to see her precious granddaughter. Keep warm and enjoy those lobsters!

MASSIVE RAVE!!: My stepfather had his surgery yesterday and they were able to do it lapriscopically! They removed the tumor from his kidney and the cancer had not spread anywhere else in his body!!! The doctors didn't have to remove any part of his kidney other than the tumor! Massive Rave!

Rave: It is supposed to be almost 75 today. It broke the 70 mark yesterday.

Rant: Freezing rain/snow Sunday. Go figure.

Rave: I finally get to use a jacket this winter! Yea! Lovin' the cold weather, even it will only last a couple of days.

Rant: I just ate a whole pound of Godiva chocolates...grrr...and I realized that a pound of chocolate isn't the same as a pound of veggies! LOL.

Rave: My picky 3 year old actually ate asparagus last night!!!

Rant: DH is gone again...this time for three long weeks. :-(

Should be a good cold weekend watching the Olympics. Have a great one!

Rave: Planning a little b'day surprise for my fiance (hopefully, he won't choose today to visit the board).
Rave: Long holiday weekend! Woo hoo!

Rant: 35 degrees, pouring rain and windy right now. In the teens by tonight with 60 mph winds. 20 below wind chill by tonight. Yikes! Lots of liquor and sweatshirts on the horizon tonight.

Huge rant: Gained 1.5 lbs this week. I'm so depressed but it's my own stinkin' fault. Why does chocolate and cheese have to taste so good!

I agree the kids need a break. I did my usual volunteering yesterday at a school and I think all the kids had spring fever already.

Rave: It's Friday!

Jorr - too funny about the cowboys & penguins! I don't have off Monday either! :((

Rant: Last Sunday's snowstorm cancelled my trip to Calgary. I called Continental before going to the airport and was told my flight was still "on time", got to the airport to find out it was "closed" then got to stand in a 3 hour line to find out what my options were. Best they could do was fly me out Monday - no good. Would've missed half my training program. Then had to call DH to come back and get me! Not fun.

Rave: Cancelled trip was divine intervention, as this week in the office turned out busy with demanding clients.

Rave: I'm organizing a "Go Red for Women" fund raiser for the American Heart Association at my women's networking group next month. It should be a fun event! ((L))

Rant: Old friends who can't make the effort to maintain their side of the relationship. I hate to relegate people to "christmas card only" status, but I refuse to be the one who initiates every contact or conversation.

Rave: Low key weekend without much to do. DH is excited to install new tiffany style billiard lamp over our pool table. (his V-day/anniversary present from me.)

bonnie, Sorry about this! I woke up this morning to 21 below zero with a 46 below zero wind chill. I couln't believe it. Beware east coast. Its comming your way, but I doubt it will end up as cold as here.

AuntAnnie, My son is also a staunch Republican! (Again, taught well by his father and grandfather! LOL!)

GoT, great news about your stepfather! I am so happy for you and your family.

Rant: At home recovering from gallbladder surgery. Yuck but at least the pain is over. Thought I had the stomache flu but guess that was wrong. But if you had to have surgery, this one isn't so bad.

Rave: Don't feel bad for me - I'm just paying for years of eating fried clams and lobster with lots of butter. That's the problem with living on the New England coast - too much really good but really fatty foods.

Rave: Local hospital that really took very good care of me - thanks to the emergency room nurses and docs and thanks to the day surgery staff.

Rave: I'll be home now when the kids and DH are on vacation.

Rave: DH and I will be celebrating our 19th anniversary this weekend by seeing Les Miserable, my all time favorite show and staying overnight in Boston. It will definately be a far quieter celebration than planned but still it will be nice. And as a bonus we et to hear my DD's violin teacher play in the orchestra of Les Miz.

Rave: Friends who make you laugh too hard when you have stitches.

I'm glad Scarlett's DD is okay and P_M is recovering.

Rave: Brokeback Mountain. I finally saw it, and thought it was amazingly good. My husband bravely saw it, too, and was not quite as moved, lol!

Rave: I used to be sad that Bush was reelected, but now I'm grateful for the entertainment the gang that can never shoot straight has provided in the past year.

Rant: dear pups got out of small dog run into muddy backyard. By the time i got them inside, both needed massive baths; then younger pup (whom we frequntly refer to as "the terrorist", who played outside instead of going to the bathroom, used our bed as his toilet. He's lucky to be with us. managed to shower, bathe dogs, get quilts to dry cleaner, change sheets, and only be five minutes late for work. I'm laughing about it all now, but it was a bad start to a friday.

Rave: picking up a new (used) car tonight! Now we don't have to choose between taking luggage or the kids.
