Four Seasons Maui Rooms

Hi all -

I am planning on a partial ocean view room (it's all they had) at the 4S Maui next April. I read a few posts where people said that much of the view is of the Grand Wailea rooms and/or parking garage - is that what I am going to be looking at? I accept the fact that it is not Hualalai and it is right next to other hotels - but is it really that bad a view (meaning, would I feel weird about sitting on my balcony over a garage?).
Thanks much!

We vacationed at the 4S Maui in December. It was our 3rd trip there, but first since we had 2 vacations in Hualilai. We were very dissapointed in the level of service compared to the Big Island proprerty. The rooms aren't nearly as nice, and the elevator gets old after a while. It's really a treck to get from your room to the pool. That's really a pain when you have kids along. We found the service very lacking in comparison to our 2 previous visits. I did send a letter upon returning home, and they have offered 2 free nights on our next stay. Too bad, since we won't be going back!

I just realized I didn't address your question about the view. The rooms are set back quite a bit from the ocean, so you just don't get a great view even in the most expensive rooms. You also have a view of either the garage or the other wing of the building.

Even the Ocean View Prime views are a ripoff as they are NOT truly ocean front!!

Wendy:

When I stayed at the FS in April, I had an "ocean view" room but it was only a partial view. It was 1/3 Wailea beach and 2/3 Grand Wailea parking lot. I suspect that "partial ocean view" means hardly any ocean view. That being said, the Grand Wailea's parking lot is ok, it 's mostly tree covered so it doesn't look like a mall. But depending on the time of day, you get to hear garbage trucks, etc...
