Four Seasons Aviara in San Diego

Anybody know the dress code at this place?

I've been to 5 star places in Hawaii, but you can pretty much wear slippers and tee shirts on the grounds and no one blinks an eye.

Any different at this place?

More casual the better. Or is this place pretentious?

bump.

More specifically, can I get away with tee shirts and slippers without getting any dirty looks?

I haven't run into an explicit "dress code" at any five-star resorts I've stayed at anywhere in CA. But I do notice that, in the public areas, people tend to wear nice casual clothes; khaki shorts and polo shirts are about as casual as it gets. In the pool/spa/workout areas, they dress more comfortably. It's not pretentious, but people just care a bit more at these places (all the Four Seasons, the Ritz-Carltons, La Costa, Ojai Valley, etc.).

But if you're asking "are midriff T's and cut-offs for the guys and tube tops and hot pants for the gals OK?", then hell no. Then again, you see relatively little of the mullets-and-mall-hair crowd at these places.

However, if the T-shirts are clean and not full of holes, you should be OK. And by "slippers" I assume you mean flip-flops-- same thing. But again, in the public areas (lobbies, bars, restaurants), you'll want to kick up the dress level a notch.

Thanks rjw. Very helpful.

Yes, the tees are presentable and the slippers are flipflops.

If I go to any of the establishments on the property, I'll put on a collared shirt at least.
