Fontainebleau Hilton , Miami

My family will be staying at the Fontainebleau Hilton next month. Are there any good restaurants within walking distance of the hotel? We're looking at any type of cuisine and any price range. Thanks.

The Fontainebleau is essentially a big convention and resort facility. It is planned to keep you there. There really isn't much of anything within walking distance (unless you consider a half hour or so along a very pededstrian unfriendly street, walking distance) except for a couple of other hotel dining rooms. Your options at the Fontainebleau are probably your best bet, or get a cab and head to South Beach.

Mrs. MileKing stayed here for a convention last summer and let me know that she did not like the hotel at all. She reported that the hotel and rooms have seen better days, and that service was perhaps the worst of any hotel she has ever stayed at.

As Patrick notes, there are really no restaurants within walking distance. Mrs. MileKing suggests checking out the cafe (sorry, don't have the name) at the Eden Roc next to the Hilton. Good food and service, and reasonably priced given the location.

I totally disagree with the above post. I don't know what rooms they stayed in, but ours was very nice (make sure to ask for a waterview room) and the hotel itself was wonderful. The on-site mini waterpark was wonderful and the atmosphere was nice. I have heard good things about the Eden Roc, but the Fountainbleau was far from dismal.
I would stay there again.

If you feel the need to walk, you are much safer walking down the beach or pedestrian boardwalk on the beach than walking down the sidewalk in front of your hotel.

You couldn't pay me money to walk down that section of Collins Avenue.

I stayed there June 02. Major remodel going on. Some rooms done (very nice), some weren't (not good). Clarify where your room will be and if it has been remodelled. The pool area had been redone and is great, and they have beach access as well. We had no complaints about the food, with the exception of the prices, which were typical inflated resort prices. Do take a cab or drive down to South Beach and go to a good cuban restaurant, which is more fun than going to an 'in' restauant and watching the 20-30 somethings there think they are more cool than anyone else. The hotel will help you if this thread doesn't give you good names. I simply don't remember anymore.
