Traverse City is one of my favorite towns. I love to spend at least one month every summer up in your fine area. There is so much to see and do! ~And of course there isn't a whole lot to 'see' in Detroit. Can't think of many industrial cities that I want to visit for a vacation, can you?

upnorth: You hit the nail on the head. Chicago residents all travel to either Michigan or Wisconsin for the summer. (Those who live south of Madison Avenue go to Michigan/while those north of Madison Ave., will hit Wisconsin.)Check out the license plates in either state between Memorial Day & Labor Day! There's no where to go in the flat lands of IL - and I'm a native!
