Fodorites -- Opt out of the new mini-categories!

I, for one, do not like the new mini-categories. I think they are needlessly confusing and time-consuming. If I have a question that touches on California, Hawaii, Florida, etiquette, travel agents or anything else, I plan to continue to post it in the general Forum rather than have it ignored in a mini-category.

I would urge others of the same view to do likewise.

I love the mini-Categories. They have helped me fine real answers to real travel questions rather than messing around with these types of "social conversation" questions.

If you want a real answer to a real travel question - go to the mini-categories. They are more efficient and informative.

Things aren't always the best just because they are the way they have always been done.

xxx - there's only 3 states represented on the US forum. Last time I noticed there are 47 other states that don't have their own forum so that means if you want info on any of these 47 states then you have to put up with the social commentary. I don't understand your logic.

For the moment I am planning a trip to Hawaii so the mini-guides are terrific for that. Hopefully, by the time I plan another trip to one of the other 47 - Fodors will have a mini-guide for them also.

I don't mind the social commentary - I just like being able to find what I need without necessarily having to sift through it.

Logic? Live long and prosper!

If they really ever do separate this site into 50 different states, in all likelihood those of us who regularly answer questions (which is most of the people who answer questions, it seems) will be bored off. Leaving 50 specific categories with nothing but questions.

Exactly. This is what Frommers board is like and why it is bloodly useless.Give Hawaii its own site and keep Ca and Fla with the rest of the states. I couldn't care less where you stick the "social conversations".
