Whether you drive your terrier across country, or fly him in a pet carrier in the cabin with you, a low dosage pet tranquilizer from the vet works wonders. It won't knock him unconcious, just calm him down for a few hours.

Barring that, this next suggestion is WAYYYYY over the top: charter a private plane and take him that way.
