Flying from Maui to Ohau--which airport??
Greetings, we are flying from Maui to Ohau and wondering which airport to use. We are staying in Lahiana area. is it better to pay more and fly out of Kapalua and avoid the long drive back to Kahului??
Thanks for your input!

We flew from Oahu to Maui and into Kahului. We were staying on Ka'anapali and thought the drive was okay to do and it wasn't that long or bad drive. Also, there were a lot more choices in flights and prices.
Hope this helps...

We used the Kapalua airport for the first time last year. We stayed in Kaanapali so it was a short distance to Kapalua airport. You'll be a bit further away in Lahaina. It is a very small airport and no hassle. I thought it was wonderful to spend less time on transfers and we will definitely use it again.

You will pay ALOT more than OGG, I guess this is what you need to see how important paying twice as much is to making some extra time. As DebitNM also mentioned car rental, you can probably get a better deal at the bigger airport. Good Luck

I recommend Kahului - not that far away. That's the modern airport. I didn't care for flying on a small turboprop plane that was rather shabby in the interior in/out of Kapalua (long time ago - arranged by a travel agent)so I don't bother with Kapalua nowadays.

Aloha from Maui! I completely agree with califK - I don't enjoy flying in the type of aircraft that fly in and out of the Kapalua Airport. The drive to Lahaina/Kaanapali is just 40-45 minutes, and it is a really beautiful drive. You may even spot some whales on your drive!
